Hi all, does anyone here have a Freewheel attachment for their wheelchair ? I got ordered one with my chair when I was in rehab and really thought it would be one of those things you get but never use, how wrong was I. It is never off my chair once I'm out the front door, it makes going the shops that much easier, you don't have to worry about cracks in the footpath or gutters, you just glide over them. Unfortunately you need a ridged wheelchair at the moment to be able to use the Freewheel, but I believe they are working on a new design for folding chairs now, unless they have already done it.
I can not recommend the Freewheel enough as I said it just makes getting around so much easier, and they are not too badly priced, particularly if you live in the US, here they are about $600, I think it's a fair price compared to other disability aids that we have to buy sometimes. So if you don't have one try and see if you can try one out, you won't be disappointed.
Good post Butiki I'll be getting mine in the next month or so. I've already tried one out for a week and I loved it! I think it's something everyone should have if they plan on wheeling outdoors.
I was just thinking after reading Knight's post on snow tyres how the Freewheel would go in the snow, there are photos of it in the snow on their website, but seeing photo's and doing the real thing are two different thing's. Yes DJ, i agree 100% if you go outdoors you need a Freewheel definitely. You would think that I worked for Freewheel sometimes by the way I rave on about them.
Butiki, To go through snow, I just pop a wheelie, then my casters don't dig in, though, my FrogLegs don't dig into the snow much anyway. Popping a wheelie costs $0 as a Freewheel costs $400+
I get you Knight. I would if I could but unfortunately, not enough of a super quad I won't be getting mine in too long and I think there'll be snow when I do get them so I'll let you all know how it goes
If you go to goFreewheel.com, you will get all the information you will need. They also have very good videos on the site to see if you think the Freewheel would be good for you.
DJ, y'all didn't get hit witb the big storm up there? Lucky!
It's funny you mention that because today the weather is the best it's been in weeks! Partly sunny and mild. All the snow has melted
DJ, No fair! We've got about 4 or 5 inches here! I'm having a helluva hard time wheeling around with street tires! I hope the freewheel gets to you before the snow hits you!
