Millard, I'm sorry to hear that! Unfortunately it'll probably be something most of us have to face one day but hopefully not. Also, what is it about the Sure-Grips that's better than the MPD controls? I'll be looking into getting hand controls in the future so it'd be nice getting more info
DJ, I apologize for not paying attention to questions but I guess this one got by me. I am using MPD hand controls and the problem is with my knees. I am 6'3" and when I have to accelerate quickly, such as passing, my knee causes an fairly minor obstruction. The Sure-Grips rock forward and back and not down (acceleration). This is not a hazard but is more of a minor inconvenience.
Good luck.
Millard

Not a problem Millard, it's easy to miss posts sometimes I see what you mean, having long legs will definitely be an issue when driving if the accelerator is a push down. I'm also 6'3" so it'll be something I'll look out for/remember. Thanks for clarifying!
Thanks to support from Access to work and the arm twisting they enforced upon the company I work for I have a titanium manual chair, custom built by DaVinci mobility who are based in Liverpool. It's around about 12kg with the wheels on, I can't recall It's a lovely chair to manoeuvre and as it's a fixed frame not much movement so reduces fatigue.

I have a manual chair, side stix and a power chair. I cant use the side stix much right now but hoping get back to it I can only operate the manual chair with one arm and one leg so the only way i am independent outside my home is in my power chair Which i really love for comfort and ability to go off road.
peacewillcome, I've never heard of side stix. What is it?
SideStix are top-of-the-line carbon fiber forearm canes, with many accessories for extending usage. See sidestix.com for more info.
I use Lorenz, my service dog, with a Ruffwear Webmaster harness to get around inside my house. To walk, stand, or transfer I need to be wearing my AFOs, Trulife Matrix Max. Outside I use forearm canes, Millennial Medical In-Motion, for short distances and a manual wheelchair, TiLite ZRA, for longer jaunts.
That's really cool, thanks for the info wavewolf! I hope I can use a sidestix one day!
You'll need good insurance or a wealthy and generous friend! BTW, you'll probably want a pair of sidestix!
Haha yeah as much as I'd love to make some kinda recovery I'm not looking forward to the costs associated with it but then again, I'd pay any amount if I had the chance to fully recover!
