My thoughts have been on a new chair after i used mine yesterday on a hospital visit and realised that it like self wheeling a truck.I saw this on a friends fb page earlier today and though how beautiful...i want one!
I like the pretty colours!
Im sure it will be seriously lighter than mine. For specification and more info on this chair please click on the link for the Ti Lite site Aero Z specifications
I have an Aero X folding wheelchair. It looks nice and works great. It folds to be 12" wide with Natural Fit hand rims. It's pretty light and very rigid when in use. The seat cushion and the one piece foot plate make it as rigid as a rigid frame wheelchair. It doesn't squeak or flex when I'm using it.
If you need a compact wheelchair don't overlook the Aero X.
My dream chair is in the ordering process right now!!!! I am so excited. Will just have to learn to use my camera so I can post pics when it comes. I love the used TiLite ZRA that I bought when I could not walk due to pressure sores on bottoms of feet in October 2013. My life would have ground to a halt with the tank that I got after rehab...was totally mis-sized and very heavy.
Lαrα, did you know that TiLite sells demo chairs at deep discount on ebay? They do ship worldwide.

When you get the size you need, it will make you so much more mobile and save your shoulders from injury. If you know what you need, ordering from bike-on.com or wheelchaircushionsage.com will save you money. Both of them give superior customer service for online ordering. But TiLite demos are the best deal, and usually are in pretty good cosmetic shape and have been put into excellent mechanical form.
TiLite ZR, with ADI backrest and braking system, and Natural Fit pushrims. Supracor Stimulite Contoured Classic cushion, on fabric seat to start but may need to go to solid seat for support. Chair will be "black" look with satin titanium finish. To save my fingertips and Jamin's tail, I am getting spokeguards--Cosmic Swirl from coolhubcaps.com. Also ordered some great storage items from activedogs.com. Yeah, blowin' the wad, but for quality of life!
This chair is now available in the USA. It seems to be a carbon fiber version of the Icon, so should be absolutely top performer! Cost is beyond most, and extra not covered by almost any insurance. I'd like a chance to try it, for sure! I tried another carbon fiber chair, Panthera X (http://www.panthera-x.com/), at a disabilities expo. It was unbelievable, actually made me cry as I felt I had regained my legs as in no other chair. At first, I thought it was just "catchy", pretty c.f.--didn't think I would like 3" casters, or open loop footrest, or "ordinary" seat pad and fabric back. But the ride... It was so light that popping a wheelie was effortless, "natural" even, so casters were great, allowing best maneuverability. Footrest held my spazzy feet perfectly. After adjusting, the support of the fabric back and seat cushion were ideal and super comfy. Most incredible part was the weight, under 10 pounds (4.4 kilos) WITH the wheels on, total weight!!!!!! So easy to load anywhere, and so light to propel. I didn't want to give the chair back! But the vendor had my clunker chair, and my canes...not an even trade!
That sounds awesome wavewolf I love it! Quality of life > money so you won't regret it!
Indeed! I have done something like this only once before in my life. After being on a medication that caused severe depression, and not making the cause-effect connection, I had been prescribed various anti-depressants--they either made me comatose or manic, so could not continue taking. My insightful PCP quoted research that said extreme exercise could be as effective as drugs in combating even severe depression, and "prescribed" that I indulge in something I would continue doing and enjoy. So, after putting off buying a kayak for decades because I thought I would wait until retirement, I purchased a state-of-the-art racing/surfing sea kayak and hit the waves! It was the best thing I could have done, as I made a whole new circle of paddling friends and had the most wonderful experiences on the water for many years. Not only did it cure my depression, but it taught me that sometimes things need to be enjoyed in the present rather than put off. I tend to delay gratification, great work ethic and all that. But one can miss joy in life if that is overdone. Balance is needed. With this outstanding kayak, I paddled with so much less effort than others, could carve really big waves, and 50-mile day was very do-able. I was able to do more than I had ever imagined with this beautiful and well-engineered kayak, well worth the money I spent! Now I realize that if I had put it off until retirement, I would not have the wonderful memories I have because I can no longer do this activity which I love so much, and miss terribly.
I do not have a long life ahead of me. My disease is progressing, and I see decline in my body every month. I want to live to the fullest while I can, and need the benefit of technology to help me continue to live independently as long as possible. So, I will enjoy this new chair to the uttermost! I forgot to mention that I will also be getting SmartDrive. This incredible manual setup is an alternative to a power chair which I don't need now, and could not transport with my present vehicle. Another vehicle is probably not in the future for me, so this allows me assisted propulsion and maximum use of my body as able, easily loaded into my present vehicle's tailgate or center-open side doors. I am also hoping to buy a Freewheel to open up the great outdoors! Cost of this setup is still less than power chair. It does not allow tilt feature, as power chair might, so I will have to tilt myself otherwise!
Wow that's interesting wavewolf! Excersizing can help with depression huh? That's great for someone who wants alternate solutions to depression instead of using medication.
A smartdrive & freewheel would be totally worth it! Might as well take care of your body as much as you can so that'll be perfect for you.
