I had a cystoscopy in Feb. and had my follow up last week. I expected a quick chat, and be sent on my way with, see you next fall. Well it didn't go that way, we got into a good discussion about what he saw and his thoughts. He told me my decompensated bladder looked leathery and small following long term Foley therapy for a mega bladder.
He told me he wanted to get started with my insurance to get a ok to give me a hydrodistention of the bladder to increase capacity, then followed with botox to settle down my spasms and incontinence. I was shocked, as normally he doesn't move this fast, but he told me your getting "use" to procedures and this is the time, and wanted the ok to seek the ok, I was in shock said ok, with the understanding I still wanted to think about this, he said fine. He said normally this is a out patient, but I want to keep you and place a irrigating catheter up in you, as I expect bleeding and want keep a eye on you. Whew.... ok.
So wondering if anyone else had this and what they found.
I have always wondered if I had IC, and I'm not sure if he mentioned that when we talked that he would look for that
Hey dannyiel, did he say what the problem would be if you don't do the procedures? So at the moment you only use a foley/indwelling catheter?
Hi DJ,
He feels my incontinence will continue to worsen. And maybe stretching the bladder some and the botox it will settle down my bladder so I don't spasm so much. I asked in Nov of 2013 to have the Foley removed as he was pushing me to have a suprapubic, because of bladder infections, and I didn't want to go there yet. So he agreed to let me self cath again. Currently I'm self cathing. With the option to use a Foley when traveling or when needed.
I will ask him this, but I wonder if he is looking for IC, I think this test will tell that, I think

Hey dannyiel, what does IC stand for? I can only think and "Indwelling catheter" or "intermittent catheterization" but I don't think you're referring to either.
I think if you can manage to cath regularly, it'll help with preventing UTI's!
dannyiel..just be sure to self catheter on a very regular basis especially if your bladder capacity is low. You dont want any problems due to back up to your kidneys
Yes DJ, have been on that detail and its much better, I did self cath from fall of 2010 till 2011 fall(I should have been cathing or cathed long before this) , then I thought I had it rough and complained too Dr, and he said well lets put one of these in you (Foley) I thought ok, this is it,and he said I will see you in 30 days. Long story short, had the Foley inserted from then on. I like your attitude DJ Danny
No,not yet, but I just got a email from the urology nurse, and my insurance approved the hydro distention of the bladder, this is the test I guess that is suppose to tell me if I have IC, but also to stretch my bladder some, then the botox too relax it also, so not so many spasms.
