Just did my annual with "Good Ole Doc Newman". Not the most encouraging visit. Got a virtual tour of my cervical and lumbar spine via my latest MRI's.
Lumbar area looks pretty good, only one bulging disc. However another story with cervical...He said that I'm a mess from C2 to C5 or 6. Around 4 and 5 there ..is
definite deformation of the cord and numerous bone spurs.
He want's me to see a neurosurgeon and he wants to perform a spinal tap. I don't want to do either!
Oh dear, not what u wanted to hear cbdives. This wont make u feel any better but it is better that they are keeping a close eye on you. , early intervention is better
I'm am just so scared of surgery...especially in the Cervical spine region
JOE
I understand absolutely...well up until my operation 3 years ago I had never had any kind of surgery, and trust me i am a real baby when it comes to this kind of thing.... but i coped pretty well with my 5 hour operation....better than i imagined.
The thought/fear is always worse than the reality....time passes and before you know it..you are back on the ward...You will be fine...dont be worrying about this young man....
Discuss all your worries with your surgeon and talk them through,..,.his job is to reassure you,..
Oh cbdives that's not good I can imagine how you feel, it's the last thing you'd want to hear! What are the risks of not doing surgery? Will it continue to damage the spinal cord?
I don't know...I'm in no pain now, I can't walk well but I still can Scuba dive (my passion). I'm very used to wheelchair life...it's not an issue to me. The doc did say the neuropathy probably won't get better even with surgery...so I'll be still wheeling it
