I've been thinking about installing a screened-in built in swimming pool. As we live in central Florida (Merritt Island) we could use it most of the year. We had one @ our previous home in Viera, but when we built this house 12 years ago did not opt to have one. My husband, a nurse himself, says a spa would be great therapy for me. We had an 8 person spa adjacent to our last pool. I was never a big water fan, & I'm not sure how a paraplegic uses a pool exactly. Are there wheelchairs for water use, that you can roll into the pool if you build a slope access instead of stairs? I'm a little nervous because I have such poor trunk control, as my injury level is T3. For the spa access, I have a portable hoyer lift. Any ideas on this? Of course my 3 sons would just love a pool! I don't love the cost, about $30,000!!! My last pool & spa, with a beautiful waterfall feature, was only about $14,000--- but that was in the 1990's! My whole house Is handicapped assessable, as I was using a wheelchair part time back then due to pain. Soooo....any paras out there using pools or spas??? Thanks!
My hobbies pre injury were pretty much abandoned years before due to a job that required a 60 hour week (yeah, no overtime). But in those days I was flying whenever someone paid me to do so (13 years as an instructor) and scuba diving in spurts. Now, post injury, I've turned my attention to teaching at church, 3D art, some light video production , and writing. Not much time for them since I have a full time job with a 1 hour commute each way. But I manage to get some hobby time in!

Check them out if you want to, but don't tell me if you don't like anything - these are meant to be therapeutic for me! If they help others, then that's great.

Hi Lαrα, These are two recent paintings of mine on canvas using acrylic paints. I am experimenting with impressionism for a style that fits my brush strokes.
