Family, friends, and the Endy community are coming together to support a local Good Samaritan who was paralyzed from the waist down after falling from a roof.
Brian Brown, who is characterized as a hard working and kind hearted man by his family and friends, fell from a roof while helping to clear a fallen tree after the June 12 microburst storm that swept through Albemarle knocking down trees, destroying homes and businesses, and causing the deaths of three people.
Brown’s father-in-law had a tree crash down on his roof, and Brown was afraid of damage that could occur from a leaking roof. While clearing the tree, Brown fell when his ladder slid from underneath him.
Brown was rushed to Stanly Regional Medical Center and then air lifted to Carolina’s Medical Center in Charlotte where he underwent back surgery. He then spent two days in the ICU from a complication from the surgery. A blood clout had found its way to his lungs through his heart.
On August 10, Endy Volunteer Fire Department will have a full day benefit to raise funds for the Brown family. A corn-hole tournament will begin at 10 am and will cost $10 per person. Following the tournament, BBQ chicken plates will be sold for $8 donation, and a silent auction will begin at 10 am and end at 4 pm when the live auction begins...
