My experience in the management of neurogenic bladder led me to prefer an intermediate solution between the completely inhibit the contractions of the bladder catheterization to do and take advantage of the high side spasticity of the bladder to empty itself. In fact, my bladder is spastic, but not enough to empty when the contractions start .. so I adopted an intermediate solution
I made 3 are catheterizations per day, but between catheterization and the other when the bladder is full, the contractions begin and I start to lose urine
One question I would have the: during episodes of excessive spasticity of the bladder that recommended to take medication to reduce spasticity in a few minutes and be able to do catheterization? Valium is recommended?
glm79....firstly, thankyou for sharing your experience
Can i ask...were you having issues with bladder incontinence because you were not catheterizing regular enough with your bladder becoming too full? Were you catheterizing intermittently?
I presume the valium is an anti-spasmodic medication....does it work so quickly?
Im interested to know what your current management is now and is it effective...?
I also have an extremely spastic bladder which empty's itself but not completely glm79. I have to catheterize twice a day to make sure my bladder gets completely emptied. I should be cathing more but there's too much pain.
Yes, i have bladder incontinence when my bladder is too full I'm starting lose urine when its full about with 350 ml of..but i can only losing 100 ml so i have to catheterizing intermittently three times a day
About valium i'm looking for informations and experience with..i don't know if does it work quickly!

This is the same as me glm79! I start leaking around 350-400ml and have about 150-200lm left over.
I am a C5-C6 also. I have a neurogenic bladder and have finally gotten it under control. I used to void normally but had a high residual, about 350 to 400 ml. You do NOT want to try and use bladder spasms to empty your bladder that way. You will reflux urine back into your kidneys and damage or infect the kidneys, and attempting this often will also damage your bladder walls. You can take medication to lower bladder pressure or you could try botox injections. If it is too painful to using CIC, then get a supra pubic catheter or a Mitranoff surgery.
Good luck.

Oh, that's the only way my bladder emptys it self Millard, by spasming! It spasms pretty intensely as well.
I'm taking a high dosage of Ditropan/Oxybutynin at the moment but it's not doing a whole lot. I've been offered Botox but I don't want to go that route. I know I keep saying I want to catheterize more often but I just can't get myself to do it.
Lαrα I can't self catheter cause i can't move hands, there's some people i pay for care me that catheter me only three times during day
Sorry glm79 i did realise you cannot functionally do yourself..my mistake how i asked. I meant to say why do you not get catheterized more regular? Is it because of practicalities? Three times a day is not frequent enough really?
