This is just a lovely, inspiring story about compassion and kindness. Bedridden and paralyzed, Ibrahim has spent the last half a year of his life in a hospital after a serious car accident that led to his Spinal Cord Injury. He hadnt received a visitor in months, not even family. So he decided to do something about it.He decided to Tweet his followers, encouraging them to come visit him in his hospital bed.
His efforts earned him 200, 000 new friends! He had so many visitors that hospital staff had to start limiting the amount of people coming to see him!
Bringing everything from flowers to pizza, so many people stopped in to visit Ibrahim that hospital staff had to temporarily ban visitors because it was affecting their work.
The incredible Twitterers didn’t stop there, they also decided to financially contribute to the life-changing surgery that Ibrahim dreamed of.
The surgery costs around $130,000 and involves a trip to Germany — and it’s now been completely covered by his new friends.
The newspaper report added this:
Ibrahim’s life is forever changed, and he’ll soon be getting the surgery he desperately needs. But many people living with paralysis or spinal injuries are also in desperate need. That’s why the United Spinal Association is dedicated to improving the quality of life for all people living with spinal cord injuries and disorders (SCI/D). Their goal is to provide people living with SCI/D programs and services that maximize their independence and enable them to remain active in their communities.
