This looks promising guys, i hope it leads to something productive in pain management Research discovered that the enzyme 'PIP5K1C' controls the activity of cellular receptors that signal pain. By reducing the level of enzyme, reduces the amount of pain. The researchers do believe that they have found a compound that reduces this activity and further studies are looking more into this. Neuropathic pain caused by damage to nerve fibres along with arthritis and inflammation pain should respond well to this treatment.
Pain is signaled from the place of injury to the dorsal root ganglia – clusters of neurons alongside the spinal cord – before the pain is signaled into the spinal cord and finally the brain. Mark Zylka, PhD, has found a way to lessen the signal – and thus pain – at the dorsal root ganglia. (Source: UNC/Max Englund, Medical Center News Office)
