I havent seen a sticker like this before so when i read it i was curious, as ever my mind started to 'tick over' lol So my thoughts were provoked along the lines of what the sticker is saying.... Is it referring to: Be careful not to bump the car because I already have a disability and I dont want another? ...or Beware because you may get bumped because my disability may induce road rage?...or Im disabled so i cant drive well ....or Beware..i need space for parking.....or...something else
What do you guys think..good idea or bad idea? I think i would have liked maybe Make Space for Parking: Differently Abled Person Driving along with the wheelchair image. At first when i read it, my first thoughts were that it suggested that disable drivers are not competent!
If the issue is space needed for wheelchair unloading, I would like: "Please allow space for wheelchair unloading." with arrow to side if side access, or just on back window if back access. Funny, I just saw one of these with the wheelchair emblem today!

Ah i like this one wavewolf..this would be beneficial and helpul
I would love something like this for our one year anniversary to celebrate..maybe at the bottom of the sticker we can have the forum web address. I think i will put this forward as an idea,,and get some costing on it

Great idea!! Arrow is not really necessary, as sticker can be placed at driver eye level on upper part of back window or side window (close to back so driver sees as car is being parked). I would modify what I wrote (shorter): "Please allow space for wheelchair loading."
Here is one I found already designed, but I like the idea of creating our own and it would be cheaper! This one is poorly laid out, although message is OK. I prefer more stylized WC and person, but still ADA accepted. www.cafepress.ca/mf/60142801/caution-handicapped_bumper-sticker?productId=579205049 At same company, I created these: The left one is 3" X 10" (7.62cm X 25.4cm), right one would be trimmed for less blaring look, 3" X approx. 6.5" (7.62cm X 16.51cm). Lowest bulk price I found is $2 ea for pack of 50 of same design. Other color combos are possible--I choose the universal ADA blue for icon, red for visibility of message, blue for continuity for forum info, on white (not clear) for visibility. These are high-quality, durable (UV and water resistant 4mil vinyl) bumper stickers. I choose an active wheeler using the standard blue color used in USA for disabled parking signage, and the clearest font I could find for easy reading by AB/other as pulling into parking space.Let me know what you think! I would prefer the asthetic on my car of a monochrome white-on-black chair, with black-on-white lettering, but these colored versions would catch the eye better. Permission to use logo would have to be confirmed, but I do not think it will be a problem--link is www.accessibleicon.org.
The logo is great but it has a Creative Commons Non Commercial - Share Alike attribution so I'm not sure if what we're using it for would be considered commercial. We could always contact them to confirm though and I don't see it being a big problem at all.
DJ and Lαrα, if we would use the logo to get the word out with using their symbol, not to make a profit (selling at cost and shipping), I think it will be OK with their written permission. I'd be happy to make call (in USA) if you decide to try such a venture.
hobbit, I agree that we might be seen as targets in our wheelchairs, but then the "PD" license plate or placard gives it away just as surely, so we cannot avoid the notices. This new notice is affirming and practical, might save us waiting outside the store for someone to come out and move their car so you could load your chair. Hahaha, maybe you could put your NRA sticker on the other side of the window!!!!
Butiki, DJ, hobbit, we can't really hide our disabilities, so the bumper sticker doesn't change that. But I can understand if you have nice cars you might not want to put one on, even with potential convenience benefit.

We don't have those plates in UK, just normal reg. no.s I'm always a bit dubious especially with road rage, car jackings etc . . . although the M7 bayonet I have in my boot ( purely to open crisp packets you understand ) might give me a bit of room to maneuver . . .

Well, M7 bayonet much more effective that NRA sticker!!!!! You can't multitask with a sticker, LOL.

I agree that I don't want the fact that I am disabled advertised. It is somewhat more subtle if it is on my parking tag or my license plate. (Of course even the disabled could be driving around with a gun in the glove compartment). This sign in the rear almost seems to advertise my disability. I don't see any reason to do that.
To tell the truth, I park far enough away from the next car so that they can get a wheel chair out and I think that most parking spaces do allow that room.
You're right wavewolf we can't hide it but it's almost like we're advertising it like ladylimpsalot said. Again it's only our opinion and if you don't mind the sticker there's nothing wrong with that!
Well my opinion for what its worth...I personally dont give two hoots for what anyone thinks about me being disabled or not. Im proud of who I am and i have no issue with it. If people have issue with my mobility issues then too bad..because they dont mean anything enough to me for me to care!
I do appreciate that not everyone holds the same opinion as i do and i respect that but when we park up here in the UK we do have to put a disable blue badge on display.
If it makes life easier for someone parking up then il go for the easier option....
Thankyou for the very helpful offer wavewolf to make the call...i will certainly take you up on it if we end up deciding on them...

Totally agree with you on this!!! There is no way I can hide or minimize my disability, except by letting my personality and character be what people remember instead of my physical limitations. Looks were never my selling point anyway! In the USA, most states give you the option of using disabled parking spaces with either a placard/badge or with a distinctive license plate. If I'm parking in a disabled space with either, well--bumper sticker or not--it's a sure bet I am disabled!!! I only park in undesignated parking if I am in a position where I know I can open my elongated driver-side door enough to lift my long legs in, and where it is safe to load my chair over the tailgate (need space to tip it up to not have to disassemble). But idiots often park in the loading areas between disabled spaces, so notice might mean that I don't have to choose to wait for their return, try to hunt them down in store, or call police (result of which is a joke on me). I don't particularly like having notices on my car, but when I saw one of this sort the other day I thought this could really be helpful. Maybe I'll get a few other tasteful stickers--uh-oh, is this a late-life crisis like old people getting tattoos???!!!!!!!
Happy to help with this. I think there is an option on cafepress.com to order directly through them (not bulk pricing then?) from "us" as designer. There are animal rescue groups whose designs bring them publicity and possibly revenue. I'll look into that when I can--heavy work week ahead. Bulk pricing doesn't have to be in large lots; their lowest price was for 50+. And I will shoot a generic note to AccessibleIcon.org about permission to use their logo, writing as an individual. They make PDF files in two color formats for free use in making templates for painting in parking lot spaces, and they sell quality overlays with adhesive backing for replacing the traditional icon with this modified one that still meets international symbol standards.
