Any others out there that have rebuilt an electric chair before ??? Making it off road worthy
I figure if I build it once I will have it for the rest of my life
I have completely built a new frame - losing about 100lbs of dead weight already - also keeping the chair the same width even with the new large tires...thus still being able to use it indoors and through door ways !
Its pretty amazing to be able to do this jimmyt...Its a 'guy thing' im sure lol i dont think i could build anything practically useful.... Im always impressed by an ability in others to be technical.
let me tell you Lara this is a challenge for even the smartest minds - to factor in all moving parts etc and make it workable is not an easy feet - but again as you can probably tell im up for any challenge - when some one says it cant be done... that only make me more driven to achieve it just part of whom I am !!
Well im fair impressed...and its a good side of your character to like to prove people wrong when you are told you cant. Determination will get you everywere...Hmmmm it all looks super tricky to me.
I can probably build a lego house if thats any use lol
I love stuff like this and I actually used a Q6000 in rehab and I can tell you that they're beasts even without mods. This is a major rebuild and I'd love to see the finished chair! Awesome work jimmyt
The best advice I can give you is get rid of the rear casters and move the drive wheels toward the back making it a rear wheel drive. It will handle uneven terrain better and has less risks of high-centering. I will be starting on a similar project this summer. I am going to convert a Invacare TDX SP and make it a beefy off-road chair.

Uh-oh, I can see our excellence-driven road warriors in a dust-throwing, rubber-burning, all-out electric wheelchair battle in the hazy future!!!!!!! Can we make the field bigger, get some press, how about it truwrecks, jimmyt, DJ, Butiki (we'll have to get you a sponsor for travel expense with your beast!), limitless??? Somehow I think we could even get jerseyboy into the act, if he kept his chair--to add some swag.
