i love bowling and am part of an national association the AWBA. and travel to different states to participate. its awesome. benn part of that for about a year now. other than that ive been on 2 vegas leagues. and for to vegas about 2 times a year for bowling. best excuse ever to make vegas trips. haha! i was able to to to reno with a wheelchair team to the USBC Open Campionships. we are the only all wheelchair team in USBC. i bowl about once or twice a week. its a blast. does anyone else here bowl ?
Never tried it from a wheelchair. Unfortunately most of the bowling alleys in my area are gone. High priced real estate has done them in. One old alley is no a "Holy Roller" Baptist church.
I wish I could still bowl. The only bowling alley in my town is gone because they violated the state liquor license. I would have to use the metal ramp no too so it doesn't trash my back anymore that it already is.
I was a gutter-ball gal as AB, so cannot imagine what I'd be like now! Hurling a heavy object is probably not something my rheumatologist would approve of, but then he wasn't too happy with my dancing either!
Wavewolf, that is why they make the aiming rail for bowling. You just need to find a place to has one for use, and that is wheelchair friendly.
When I was in Germany before I first injured my lower back I went bowling every weekend I could. I wasn't extremely consistent but I had a wicked curve ball that could change direction in the last few feet before it hit the head pin. If I didn't mess up my spine I could have been a good bowler with consistent practice.
So much for the "what-ifs". It would still be fun to go bowling for an evening with friends.
Not following the ball down the aisle because of fine chair control, excellent! Knocking down all the pins with one throw, outstanding! But the second video revealed your trick... It is said that when you lose a physical ability, something else is heightened to compensate. I saw how you threw that ball, it wanted to go to the gutter, but you made it obey your brain waves and move over to where it would get the job done. Priceless!
I went bowling a couple times and it was fun. I definitely can't do bowling anytime soon with paralyzed fingers though
No need to have working fingers to bowl, I have a ball that has a retractable handle built into it and can get my hand in it far enough I can still throw it fairly well. Even using the ramps is fun as long as you have someone to help you get your ball off the return and on the ramp. I've bowled in several Bowl-A-Thon's, raise a lot of money and had a blast. Or just get a Wii game system and bowl with it.

Interesting, thanks for the info wheelzup! I have done Wii bowling but it's not quite as fun unfortunately
That is really fun, surprised me how much! When I was in rehab, they introduced me to Wii. I got so into it that I forgot I was paralyzed, pushed up out of my chair and stumbled a few feet and fell on my face. Maybe now that I am used to the idea, I can try again and stay in chair!
