I see that there's a hunter among those members of this forum but now that it's warm does anyone fish or go camping?
We have a 35 foot camper that has been modified with a custom designed lift so I can get in and out and to be able to sleep comfortably. Our boat has a lift on the trailer so I can get in a go out with my dad and brothers on Lake Erie. I have a brace designed to help me hold my rod and reel. I've caught lots of walleye and even more yellow perch not to mention I was able to go out on a charter in the Gulf of Mexico, what a blast that was. Farm ponds are my favorite since they are loaded with some big Bluegills and Bass.

I'm more of a hunter but I do fish when we go to the lake. We have an accessible older pontoon boat that is docked that I roll straight on to. It's not easy to fish from a pontoon so I usually just fish from our dock on occasion.
Camping, hunting and 4 wheeling are my favorites. We ordered a 28 foot custom wheelchair accessible toy hauler RV in March. The company is back logged and we are not scheduled to pick it up until end of July. They haven't even started building it yet. I'm super excited though. Roll in shower and 8x5 bathroom.
As for fishing, I love it and grew up fishing with my dad. My husband is not much of a fisherman so we don't make it a huge priority. Nice that someone else enjoys the outdoor world.
I do a lot of camping in the summer - by camping, I mean bike rallies . . . spend the weekend sleeping in a tent between headbanging & drinking . . . don't bother worrying about washing, the wife throws me in the shower as soon as I show my face back at home . . .
It just thrills me to read what you all are doing! Pursuing our passions is key to life. My energy is so limited, as well as mobility, that I am considering selling my camping gear and I know I have to sell my kayaks. I still dream of getting out on the water though, and Europedude got me hyped upwatching handi-wakeboard video!

There's one company that I know of that has made some modifications to their kayaks so those with disabilities can enjoy using them. HobiCat (spelling?) has come up with a conversion that allows you to pedal instead of rowing. The setup is like the handcycle bike only it works a couple of paddles that are under the kayak. I'll see if I can find the link and post it.
It is custom made to fit me by a friend who makes braces, splints, and other types of adaptive devices. It started out as a brace that my OT came up with to help me cath and the more I used it I started seeing other ways to use it and the fishing brace was the first thing that came to mind. Now it is being used by others who wanted to play tennis, golf, and billiards but don't have much if any use of their hands. Here's what it looks like plus how it's attached to my rod:
It works for me and the white reel didn't cost me anything but my time. It's actually electric and the reel itself was gotten from Bass Pro Shops. The conversion to electric was done by engineering students who are going to the University of Toledo. Usually twice a year they ask for ideas for projects that can help those with disabilities improve their quality of life plus it's a rather large part of their grade. It's amazing just how many different things they have designed and built over the years.

Wow that is great wheelzup! Really nice of the students to do that
