I know we already have already have on this subject but i thought it would post this up. It looks like preparations are well on the way! This has been one serious project
Brazilian doctor Miguel Nicolelis led a team of 156 scientists from around the world to create the futuristic exoskeleton, which was designed to enable paralysis victims to walk.
At the World Cup opening ceremony Thursday in Sao Paulo, a paraplegic whose identity has been kept secret will leave behind his or her wheelchair to take to the pitch in the suit and give the tournament's first kick.
My My how do i go to the loo or get into the car wearing that. Tks for the info Lara ain't heard it till now Sounds interesting and good promo for exo suits. The technology is here for more slick and user friendly suits even to be worn under clothing. Balancing, climbing stairs walking on uneven ground, toileting, entering exiting vehicles and that irritating robotic sound is still an issue but not insurmountable. Future looks bright even for quads too.Really hope the price would be affordable too .
Just seen the opening. sadly to say for over 1 billion viewers in my opinion the opening was dismal, the paraplegic guy was only shown for less than a few seconds while our local carnival could of done a better show . such a far cry form the British and Chinese Olympic openings. The English team are already complaining that their ground looks like a potato field. For weeks the Brasilian gov has been plagued with street riots over massive spending and corruption while leaving Rio's favellas without basic services. The brasilian president has also cancelled her opening speech due to fear of football ground riots while many locals are staging a boycott and strikes beginning with the airport and transport workers. If that is not bad enough the FiFa president has been accused of accepting a 5 million bribe to choose Qatar as the next world cup venue in which players will have to play in 50C heatwaves. Hopefully i wish all this will be put aside and the politicians leave us in peace and let us enjoy football

Wow..that is such a shame delboy..clearly the world does not need to see and know how amazing it is for someone to walk with paralyzed limbs!

Oh my. I did see the coverage this morning when a CNN reporter group got injured with a government launched grenade of sorts when they were trying to disperse protestors. The games have cost Brazil more than 11 BILLION dollars. It sounds like quite a mess over there.
