Urinary Tract Infection prevention is becoming more important since bugs are becoming increasingly resistant to anti biotics, Consequently they are becoming less effective in the treatment of UTI's
I know of several people who take a daily cranberry tablet/capsule supplement to assist UTI infection but did you know that not all of these supplements contain the recommended amount of cranberry?
I was on my internet travels this morning when i stumbled across a blog where the individual was talking about her continued issues with repeated UTI's. She read somewhere about a supplement called 'Ellura' (cranberry Capsule) and started to take it every day. She was so pleased to find that her UTI infections reduced significantly.
So i did a search to find out why this was a useful and effective supplement and how it compared to other cranberry supplements/capsules.
It seems that some supplements are not giving the necessary dose that is required to assist in UTI prevention.
With ellura, you get all the benefits of pure cranberry juice in an easy, one-a-day capsule.
The active ingredient in ellura is called proanthocyanidins or PACs for short. We extract the PACs from pure cranberry juice concentrate. This means the PACs are high quality and effective in helping prevent bacteria from attaching to the walls of your urinary tract. They're the same ingredient found in pure cranberry juice, but without the unwanted extras such as calories, sugar and acid.
Other cranberry supplements are made from cranberry presscake, which is what's left over after the juice has been pressed from the cranberry harvest. The presscake includes stems, seeds and pulp, which isn't nearly as effective in supporting the flushing of bacteria from the urinary tract. This continued pressing damages the PACs and keeps them attached to the presscake. This prevents the PACs from being available to attach to the bacteria.
I think its very worth checking the ingredients in your tablets/capsules to see if they do in fact contain the recommended amount of PAC which should be 36mg. Otherwise you may find that your wasting your time and money.
This is the link to the Ellura site, theres lost more info to read: Elurra
