Ok ive taken more information from the site and also does some comparisons around the net and i do believe that this product Allura is the most effective and is the only product that is actually providing the correct level of ingredients that trials have found to be effective in helping to prevent UTI's.
I would really prefer to spend my money on something effective and that does its job rather than take a lesser effective supplement. Its way to important for our bladder care to not get the best we can...Plus the supplement starts doing its job significantly quicker than other supplements!
Ellura contains 36g proanthocyanidin (PAC) (recommended daily dose that is clinically proven) compared to other popular brands which only have between 2 and 8g! PAC is the active ingredient that helps prevent bacteria from sticking to the inside the urinary tract. Q: I’m a diabetic, can I take ellura?
A: Yes. ellura has a very low glycemic index. There is no added sugar in ellura and only a trace amount exists from the fruit as the majority is removed during the extraction process.
Q: Does ellura acidify urine?
A: Only to a slight degree. The lower a pH level of a substance, the higher its acidity. ellura has pH of 4.44 which is similar to a cup of coffee or a cola. Water has a pH of 7. Cranberry juice is much more acidic with a pH of 2.7. If you can tolerate coffee or soda, you should be able to tolerate ellura.
Q: How much ellura should I take?
A: To maintain a clean urinary tract: Take 1 capsule daily with water. At onset of known triggers: Kick-start ellura’s benefit by taking 2 capsules daily with water for 2 days. Continue to take 1 capsule daily for 26 days. With sexual intercourse: Take 2 capsules with water 30 minutes before or after sexual intercourse. Then take 1 capsule daily for the following 3 days. ellura may be taken with or without food at any time during the day, but preferably at approximately the same time each day. As with all supplements and medications, we advise you to discuss the use of ellura (a cranberry juice extract supplement) with your health care provider. Discontinue use and consult your doctor if any adverse reactions occur.
i have tried a variety of supplements over the years (don't currently use cranberry) like Rite Aid or Natures Bounty, AZO, etc. I can't tell if they were effective but i don't like drinking cranberry jiuce because of all the other fruits in it and the added sugars. i may get about 1-2 UTIs in a year at most, so healthy defenses against UTIs are better than treating it w antibiotics. i will be looking into this cranberry supplement, thanks !!

How about instead of pills drinking cranberry juice, ice tea, or eating dried cranberries? Is this effective? And how much of it should you drink or eat? Recently I was drinking cranberry ice tea, and then saw it contains only 0,1% of cranberries, probably not enough to prevent UTI, right?

I doubt very much that the Cranberry drinks and tea would provide enough of the cranberry extract. Its the cranberry extract (the juice) that contains the active ingredient (proanthocyanidins PAC) that does the job of preventing the bacteria sticking to the bladder wall. Which isd how it helps prevent the UTI.
Also the cranberries themselves are very acidic...and if they are dried then they will have even less...
Definitely will not help prevent UTI's with that little cranberry count Europedude. I hate meds but I'm going to have to say that the pills will be your best bet!

Cranberry drinks and foods are usually high sugar and very low on actual, natural cranberry. it's very rare (and probably expensive) to find pure cranberry juice without other additives like corn syrup, sugar, apple, grape and pear juices mixed in, for the fact that sugar reduces the tartness of straight cranberry. even dried or fresh cranberry is hard to swallow and get any health benefit without consuming thousands of calories in the process. a concentrated liquid or pill supplement is the best alternative for preventing UTI.

I drank real thing for about my first year. As Jenn has mentioned it's super sour and tart at the same time and not something you'd drink for pleasure. It was hard to find and very expensive. I was at a poker game and one of the wives wanted to try my juice.(most drink beer). I told her it wasn't the kinda juice she thought it was. She didn't believe me so she took a big gulp. The look on her face was priceless, and I enjoyed the gagging and coughing that followed.
