Has anyone else got any issues with their feet ? i have swelling, particularly in my left foot, right foot not so bad. I take 20 mg ofFrusemide each day it helps a bit but wish the swelling would go away so I could wear my shoes and boots I wore before my injury Also I get a fungal infection between my toes but I seem to be keeping it at bay with Daktarin powder. Being a diabetic type 2 and a smoker I am paranoid about my feet. I understand that the swelling is because of the inactivity in my legs. i also get my toenails cut about every 6 weeks at the hospital.
Butiki, do you wear compression stockings? I do get slight swelling on my feet a couple times a week but it goes after keeping my legs slightly elevated overnight. During the day I wear compression stockings and remove them when I come to bed in the evening. Before going to sleep I put a pillow under my legs to keep pressure off the heal and to help the blood flow back to my body. You should also try propping your legs up with a pillow if you don't do so already. I'm worried about how my feet will look as I'm starting to get a bit of in/over grown nails on one of my toes. My toes are a bit hypersensitive so I hate to get my nails cut but I really have to
Hi DJ, I did wear compression stockings all the time but they started to hurt around the ankle and didn't really help that much,so now I only wear them when my feet are quite swollen, and I used to sleep with my feet on a pillow, but I now sleep on my side and turn myself during the night my feet tend to get tangled up,but I sleep with a pillow between my knees. You really must look after your feet,so get those toenails cut mate.
Butiki, as much as I hate doing it I really must maintain my toenails, you're right. As for the compression stockings, what kind are you using? Could you use a less tighter one that you could use all the time when you're up?
Butiki..my left foot swells also but ive also had blood clots in my left leg so be sure to get any calf swelling checked out. Try get your legs raised at parts of the day if you can. I have one of those hospital beds and i always get on it regular to raise my legs.
I find it so hard to find shoes even to fit and i used to have to cut all the socks around the ankles. Seems our lower extremities suffer the most
Can you try adapting the compression socks to fit better?..they work by being tight but being too tight at a joint is uncomfortable...maybe put a small cut in them at the ankle and put an insert in?
