Hi all, I was looking around the net today and thought this might be interesting.
A REVOLUTIONARY cushion developed by the University of Bolton for wheelchair users has been showcased to the House of Lords.
Professor of Technical Textiles, Subhash Anand, gave a presentation on his invention — the Airospring pressure cushion — after being selected as one of five new materials which can further aid UK growth.
The event in Westminster was organised by the Knowledge Transfer Network of Materials to focus on how the UK economy can benefit from high value materials.
Il be interested to see how these cushions fair up over time and how successful they are when used practically. It looks like a well priced product but how effective it proves to be will be the test.

Interesting, from what I've seen it doesn't look to be targeted to full time ultralight chair users, but more like temporary chair users. But with the affordability I would be really interested in trying it on top of my cushion since breathability is an issue for me. Unfortunately so is my rear seat height though, so with my current chair I can't go further increasing it. I think this material may work best for our kind of chair users as a cushion cover with the material on top, like the "stimulite on top" covers.
lin, my impressions were the same. I wondered what they meant by "pressure mapped" in this price range, as pressure mapping is a custom measurement to be effective. Probably more marketing than miracle seat here!
