I was thinking of opening a thread mostly for all the newcomers and members from non english countries. I too sometimes struggle with some abbreviations, have to google them,.... It reminds me of my pre-injury work at an American multinational company with millions of abbreviations (heck, even its name is an abbreviation:)) We had a sw (software haha) where you typed in an abb., and it showed you full words.
So here are some abbreviations I see being used on the forum. Of course yours are welcome as well, as I'm sure I'll forget some:
SCI - spinal cord injury AB - able bodied CES - cauda equina syndrome MS - multiple sclerosis UTI - urinary tract infection ED - erectile disfunction BM - bowel management B&B - bladder and bowel cath = catheter, or to catheterise para - paraplegic quad - quadriplegic WC, or W/C - wheelchair AD - autonomic disreflexia PVS - penile vibratory stimulation etc. - et cetera
That's all I can think of right now... So help me out
Your right yes...sorry, im a bit of a banana brain today
No problem!
I use BM for bowel movement. It covers any kind of program, routine, or movement at all. Very wide term. I also thought of a couple that I use sometimes. Not sure if some of them are used very often by others, but hey, just sharing right?
IBS = Irritable Bowel Syndrome V/C = Valsalva and/or Crède (techniques used for emptying bladder without the use of a catheter)
(P.S. I edited because I realized the pink color font I chose was hard to read)
