'Bel' as she is known to family and friends slipped and fell when she was just 8 years old, leaving her with a devastating injury..3 years on..Bel is paralyzed from the neck down and needs a ventilator at night.
Bel and her family live in hope that one day..research will reverse her paralysis and she can lead a life that isnt dependent on carers.
Bel spent 10 months in intensive care. Three and half years on, Bel remains paralysed from the neck down. She is completely reliant on her Mum Vanessa, Dad Simon and her carers, and is dependent on a ventilator to breathe at night. Bel faces a lifetime of care unless there is a new treatment to reverse her paralysis. That is why all our scientists are working around the clock.
