This is good news and i hope other companies follow this initiative! The BBC, a UK television company is to increase the number of employees it takes on, we just need other companies to see that this is not only fair but also good business sense.
Its a double whammy ...it brings awareness..(providing that positive role models are encouraged). We so need to see more people from this cross section of the population on TV...
The BBC has stated that A new ‘pan-BBC Disability Executive” will ''be appointed to improve the portrayal of disabled people and to champion disabled talent throughout the corporation.''
Sounds good so lets see how they are portrayed!
It also increases the profile of the company and increases business opportunities and raises the status of the BBC...
Business's are always looking at ways to promote their business and what better a way than this.
Just to add...even after increasing the number of staff to four times..its still only 5% of disabled members of staff that they will aim at employing!
