Stoke Mandeville, the birthplace of the Paralympics,here in the UK, will host The International Wheelchair and Amputee Sports Federation (IWAS) Junior world games next week. Hundreds of athletes from around the world will compete in 6 sports, to include, Archery, Athletics, Powerlifting, Swimming, Table Tennis and Wheelchair Fencing.
The opening ceremony takes place on the evening of Sunday August 3 followed by four days of competition finishing on Thursday 7th August. The public are encouraged to come along to show their support for the event.
The age group of competitors is 14-22 and the Games will provide valuable competition for all up-and-coming youngsters and 2016 Rio Paralympic prospects. The Games will take place just before the IPC European Athletic Championships that will be staged in Swansea.
