I was reading some info earlier about DVT'S being suffered as a result of Cauda Equina Syndrome. Just wondering how many of us have had this problem (ive had three!) and also to remind people to look at for the signs that a clot is present.
I was reading a blog by a guy with Cauda Equina Syndrome and he describes this
** A specialist relayed to me that the nerve damage to my spine was so severe in the nerves that lead to the left leg that the leg was not getting the necessary inputs from the brain to pump blood back up towards the heart, resulting in the blood tending to pool in my left leg and foot. **
My left leg is always more swollen than the right and the swelling goes up and down, it makes it very hard to monitor wether I am developing another. The way i monitor now is that i measure my calves in the morning. Normally the swelling will decrease after raising them at night so i can get a relatively safe measure at this time of the day. Any change is the size in the morning will prompt me to go to the docs that day!
Symptoms of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) In some cases of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) there may be no symptoms, but possible symptoms can include: pain, swelling and tenderness in one of your legs (usually your calf) a heavy ache in the affected area warm skin in the area of the clot redness of your skin, particularly at the back of your leg, below the knee
I'm living in compression hosiery as a result of the DVT risk. Blood return isn't sufficient for me to stand for more than about 20 minutes without them
I've started a website selling stylish compression options. If anyone would like more information, give me a shout!
It would be great if we could get some fashionable or different coloured compression tights..lol the usual ones, though very important to wear can be kinda dull.
Il definitely take a look at the site..where are you based emma?
I'm based in Ireland and France and trying to promote the site throughout Europe.
If anyone has questions about compression or is having difficulty with the site (Internet Explorer compatibility issues) please give me a shout: emma@legstyle.eu
I can also advise on other companies that might be based closer to you if you're not in Europe so that you don't have to pay international shipping etc.
