This is such an important issue...I have talked about something similar in regards to employing people with disabilities and how it is beneficial for business...Well hear this now...
A study has shown that over 90% of people with disabilities will re-visit a venue if it has good accessibility.......It makes good sense...Lets be honest..many people with disabilities do actually have disposable incomes! Some from the usual avenue from working and some from insurance payouts..
Companies are foolish if they think the stone age pre historic way that us disabled people dont have a life and cant afford to be sociable!!
Venues are urged to provide better disabled access information by more than 90% of disabled people
An overwhelming 93% of disabled people would revisit a venue that has good accessibility, according to a new survey carried out by the organisers of Disabled Access Day. Over 90% of people surveyed also said that they try to find out information about a venue’s accessibility in advance of their visit, further highlighting the importance of venues having good disabled access provision if they are to attract disabled customers.
The UK’s 11.6 million disabled people in the UK are estimated to have a combined spending power of £80billion, according to the Department of Work and Pensions. As a result, venues with poor disabled access or information are potentially missing out on gaining a significant amount of revenue.
Euan MacDonald, co-founder of the disabled access reviews website, EuanGuide.com, said, “The survey shows how crucial it is for venues to offer good disabled access in addition to ensuring that their information about their accessibility is up to date and accurate.”
Here in Canada there's a law in place that says all new building or old building that plan on doing exterior renovations must be wheelchair accessible.

Im sure its the same here DJ but not all people follow this..unfortunately.. There are so many restaurants that have stairs up to their bathrooms too which is quite annoying.
I do think its improving though...like everything its time i guess.
That's not good Lαrα! Here they have building inspectors who check to make sure that the construction/renovation is up to code and if not, they must bring it up to code.
