I picked up using hand controls very quickly, within a couple of hours. Now I actually feel like I'm a safer driver now. 1)The lag time from going from gas to braking is shorter than moving the foot from the gas peddle to the brake peddle. 2) It's nearly impossible to talk on the phone or text with hand controls! Also speed control makes the whole process of driving so much easier.

That's great cbdives! What kinda hand controls do you use?
Mfg is "Mobility Products Design", 3500 Series Hand Control. Semi permanent design, very simple...push the handle forward to break, pull the handle down to accelerate. It come with other bells and whistles, such as direction signals etc which I really didn't need. Originally I had a removable "foot block" to prevent my feet from from accidentally hitting the brake or gas peddles....but I didn't have the block installed when I traded vehicles...make it easier when I have someone else drive my van.
