My Powerchair decided to go on strike just before I was heading out to do some Christmas shopping with some friends...you think that there would be some sort of emergency number where you can contact someone on weekends. What a joke not even Enable had emergency number to get some help, what are people who rely on there chair's supposed in a situation where their chair dies. I spend a good part of the day phoning around to get some sort of help. I left 3 messages and no one phoned me back.
Short story long I phoned the NRMA in the off chance they might have some contact's and to my surprise they where able to put me through to someone who in the short term who give me some instructions to keep it operating at least until Monday. Thanks to the NRMA and the handy work of my nephew who knew exactly what to do and saved the day, I don't have to spend the weekend in bed immobile...now lets see how long it will take to get Enable to come out and fix it... Lol has anyone else been in a similar situation.. tell me your stories and what you did?...
For those that live outside of Australia "NRMA" is a roadside service that will come out free of charge if your wheelchair has a flat tyre and "Enable" is a government funded organisation that has supplied the wheelchair and keeps maintenances of any equipment that you may have through them.
