Just out of curiosity, does stress affect you in anyway physically? Do you experience more/less spasms, more bowel/bladder issues, pain, etc? For me I don't eat or drink much when I'm stressed and I find that it contributes to UTI's and it messes up my bowel routine.
Interesting responses! Though losing weight this way is not the greatest it's still not a bad thing andrew, it's good that nothing else is affected. wavewolf, pain, spasms and bowels huh? That's intense!
Hello Everyone, If I get really stressed out and upset/mad, I definitely will have increased nerve pain. So I try to stay calm. If I do get excited, a couple glasses of red wine do the trick. Better than taking drugs.
I wish all of you a very Blessed Holiday season and a "Healthy", happy New Year!. Take care, Best Regards, Joe
I have found a couple glasses of red wine, ( I like Blended wines) and a couple advil/aleeve do wonders. I stopped taking all my pain pills a couple years ago. They were fogging my head. Alcohol is much better for you. Of course its my opinion but wine has a less affect on the kidney/liver than pills. My liver enzyme levels even returned to normal after sticking to the wine over pain meds. I still get some pains during the day but try to tolerate. Merry Christmas to all.
Yes! Bowel accidents and spasms. I've increased my antidepressants so it's not an issue now. I would love to be the type to reduce eating when stressed. I am a stress eater. I also get acne when stressed. In hospital I had two major breakouts.
kjp77 I feel like I'm a stress eater sometimes but most of the time I'm the opposite. Not eating much throws off my bowel routine because I get on the commode and can't empty. Then I'm paranoid the rest of the day wondering if/when it'd empty and hope I can hold off till the next morning and not have an accident.

Having a disease process means that I am more vulnerable to stress. The disease caused my SCI, among other things, and stress is the worst thing--can trigger a flare of disease that can be life-threatening. So, I have done as much as possible to de-stress my life. Number one is eliminating toxic people. Number two is trying to live with my limitations, making adjustments instead of getting mad at myself. Number three is being thankful for what I can do, and appreciating every good person, thing, and circumstance!
