I'm looking for some advice from anyone who has experience with vacationing in Hawaii. I'm very strongly considering booking a vacation there in the next week and am trying to find the best hotel/resort and attendant care services. I only need a nurse/personal care worker for my morning routine (bowel and shower).
I'm thinking of paying a friends way there so that my Mom doesn't have to come with me. Don't feel bad, she's going to Cancun in a month. Obviously I can't teach my friend how to help me so I need a professional .
I may be wrong but hasnt Dean been on a vacation in Hawaii, it does sound like a great place to visit Chris. Im happy to do some googling if you dont find enough info
Hey chris, I wish I could join you haha Lαrα, he went to Cuba I believe but I'll check to make sure
So chris you'll be going there in a month or so?! I have heard that Hawaii is a pretty accessible place from people in the past but I'm not sure about who you could contact to bring a nurse there. Try giving CPA (I think they changed their name to Spinal Cord Injury Ontario) a call and see if they have any suggestions.
I was in Hawaii a few tears ago. It depends on where you go for accesibility. The main island was great, some of the smaller one's I had some trouble getting around but everyone there was willing and earger to help. As far as your medical needs, I would call a local hospital close to where you plan to stay and most will direct you in the right direction. Another option, you could call your hotel consiger, it's their job to help you be comfortable and have your needs met. Hawaii is a tourist trap is the only thing I didn't like about it, a lot of people.
Thanks for all the replies everyone! My plans have changed and it looks like I may be going to Punta Cana now. It should still be about the same level of difficulty with some addittional challenges (language barrier). I don't suppose any of you have been there eh?
Thanks again!
Without hard times in life, we would never know the true feeling of happiness.
