wavewolf, yeah you're right, damaging my kidneys is a big fear already so I should take care of my body as Lαrα has mentioned. I'll cath more often. Starting soon...
Start now! Seriously. I would be interested to know how you will manage a hygenic set-up when you are not at home. That is a real challenge when you are a student, and schedules tend to be less regular. Of course, for us, we are forced to live by planning and by yielding spontaneity to practicality.
Well, I finally self cathed myself two night ago and did it again last night! For the whole day yesterday I had no condom catheter on but intermittently cathed every 3-4 hours. It's really not as bad as I thought it'd be.

Lαrα,DJ,hobbit,Butiki,Knight, kevin, wavewolf, Well, I consider myself blessed at this point to not need to cath!!!! Video urodynamics revealed very limited bladder capacity (100cc), but no reflux so no immediate concern for kidney damage. I do need to perform my "neuro trick" to empty bladder on hourly basis, and the urologist was amazed that I had figured this out! Actually, a roommate with MS taught me the trick while I was in rehab. Lately I have been free of UTIs, so am very happy.
That's great to hear wavewolf! No caths and UTI's is a big win Now I'm kinda curious about the "neuro trick"!
It is different than digistim, but requires a gloved finger placed (palm against butt) up to point where nerve reflex is triggered. I'm assuming that this works for men and women. Beyond that I can't describe it--you just start to go when the right spot is hit.

Haha ok that makes sense, so essentially you're trying to trigger a bladder/sphincter spasm right?

A urethral sphincter spasm would more likely be a contraction that closed the flow. For me, this neuro-stim (made up word!) triggers a total opening of the sphincter, with bladder emptying to about 20cc, which is about the most one achieves (even AB) without cathing. So the right spot relaxes the muscle.

Very interesting, good to know! Thanks for sharing that
