Im always looking for decent information on Cauda Equina Syndrome issues and was quite pleased to come across a website that discusses spinal issues. I have seen several 'experts' on Cauda Equine since developing this almost 4 years ago and been sufficiently irritated by the lack of correct and appropriate information.
One super big irritation was just over a week ago when i was sat with yet another 'Cauda Equina Syndrome' 'Expert' who tried to tell me that my spasms are NOT due to spasticity.
''So if not spasticity, what is it? '' The reply from his was 'spasms'
Well im tired of this and its beginning to annoy me far too much...So i have refused to sign his report because it isnt 'true'. I am not going to back down on the fact that i do have spasticity, i suffer these, you dont so why the Hell can you even give me your opinion on it.
We have a poll here on the forum that proves that almost all of our CES suffer with spasticity..Each and every member here learnt this the hard way, from experience...The 'experts' learn from our misfortune so the least respect they can give is to listen and learn.
I found a useful article in regards to Cauda Equina Syndrome and at least one expert realises that CES sufferes DO experience spasticity...
Spasticity:
Use of orthoses is advised to prevent contractures. Use of antispasticity medications also is encouraged. Other medications include dantrolene, diazepam, clonidine, and tizanidine. Nerve blocks also could be done to relieve spasticity; appropriate agents include phenol, botulinum toxin, or local anesthetics.
Simple but says enough....CES does cause spasticity!
