has any of you already tried this??? I just started reading and hearing about it. It sounds really good, with plenty of benefits, but most of all I would be interested in increasing of growth hormone.
OK first of all, what is intermittent fasting - you eat your normal amount of food in a smaller time frame. There are more variations, I think the most popular one is where you eat normal for 8 hours, than fast for 16 hours. You can do this everyday, or just couple of times per week. There are other variations - where you fast for 24 hours couple of times per week, or eat normally one day, the next day just one fifth of your normal intake, ...
Sounds crazy, for me too, I have been eating every 3-4 hours my whole life Of course you can start gradually, don't eat for 12 hours, then 13,... Actually this isn't that much, you sleep in between
OK back to growth hormone - researches say it really increases when you fast from time to time (or every day). This means then fat loss and increased muscles. But I would be more interested if possibly this hormone could help me with my situation (accelerate nerve growth maybe?), and also bring back some muscle mass to my atrophied legs??? What do you guys think?
Btw this method is really quite a hit, even Wolverine and plenty of other actors are doing it
Europedude, this is an interesting post, i cant comment as i dont know much about this but i will try and become more informed, for def. Muscle mass would grow with activity normally but i see where you are coming from.
Wouldnt this be like a natural steroid would work? Im not sure it would help muscles with damage to them and im not sure it would help promote nerve growth because we are needing re generation.
I will definitely do some research on the net though
Interesting Europedude, I've never heard of this before so I really have no suggestions. Nerve growth is a completely different thing so I really doubt doing something like this would contribute to nerve growth.

I might worry about my bowel routine being thrown out of whack. Not that I have one. I don't know the science behind this though. I can't imagine this would be a positive thing. I know my body needs fuel to do the things I try to accomplish. I'd be a weaker pup than I am already. Kinda sounds like a fad, but honestly I really don't know. I'm going to wait this one out. You start adding mass to atrophied limbs and I'm all-in.
Yeah I am also quite used to eating regularly. So if I do try it, this will probably be couple of times per week, with 8 hours heavy eating, then trying to sleep as much as possible, so the next 16 go by fast It wont affect bowel so much, I hope, because I would eat the same amount of food. Just in a shorter time period, thats kinda the idea of this "diet".
Dont worry, if I do get¨some results from increased growth hormone, I am letting you guys know!

Hey guys!
First of all my heartfelt apologies for not being here for some time now In the summertime I like to be out, travel,... So not much computer.
Anyway, I am info IF for 3-4 months now! Not strictly, I do it 2-3 days per week, where I eat for 8 hours, and then fast for 16. Results? I am definitely bigger in my upper body. Could be from exercises, but I am almost positive increased growth hormone has got something to do with it. Legs? Definitely more spasms, increased and stronger. Nothing painful, I had slight spasms before, they are just more common and stronger now. Have them on the whole back side (calves, foot, back leg, ass). This, plus FES means also bigger legs. OK, less atrophied But still again almost positive hormone has got sth to do with it.
kilg0retr0ut, , I was also worried about being hungry and the effect on bowels. No worries! Bowels normal, cause anyway you do have those 3 big meals. Just squeezed in 8 hours time lapse. I also had more energy and felt good whenever fasting. I never thought Id say this, but looks like skipping a meal can be benefitial
I also spoke with many doctors, all of them on board, saying it's healthy, for your cells, whole body, decreases stress,... So I will keep doing it for those 2-3 days, other 4-5 I will be getting my "normal" 4 or 5 meals.
My main goal with it was to provoke nerves with growth hormone. Probably there is some success, as legs look more active. And less dead let's say no new voluntary movement, unfortunately. Oh and this hormone turns fat into muscles, besides other benefits, which I can also see for myself. So no down-side from it!
Hey Europedude, thanks for the update! That's some interesting changes you've got there. So the doctors think it's a good thing to do as well huh?
As kilg0retr0ut the bowel routine being thrown off was a concern but it seems that that's not an issue for you which is good. Increase muscle and decreased fat is perfect. Good job trying this out! I'm going to consider trying it
Europedude, very interesting concept! I think the resting of our bowel can help our bodies use the nutrients more efficiently. I have been doing a variant of this for many years, just found it worked for my body. I eat two hardy meals, larger in the morning, and rarely snack. My meals typically fall within a 10-hour framework. This way my bowel is fairly empty for sleeping, and I rest better. Now with SCI last 6+ years, it means not having to worry about bowel mess in bed (well, most of the time!). My BMI is good, and my muscle tone is great most places, and not too bad in paralyzed (incomplete) muscles.

It definitely is an interesting concept! Something like shocking your body, by not giving it food for some time (of course not to the point of starving to death , and then it starts increasing growth hormone production. I wanted to get it measured, but it's a complicated and expensive procedure.
It's for sure healthy and recommended by doctors, so definitely give it a try guys!
It's definitely interesting and worth trying. I don't believe it would bring back muscle but who am I to say. I have a Lower motor neuron injury at T-10. I have tried everything the last eight years to reverse atrophy. No luck. Hoping these stimulators end up doing something for us. Anyway this sounds like its worth trying. I eat every three to four hours too but try not to eat after seven PM. I then eat around seven or eight the next morning. I will have to try the 16 hour deal. I would bet you get used to it after shrinking the stomach. I am interested to see what the hormone levels would do.
I take weekly injections of Depo T. to keep my levels high. That has helped me tremendously in many areas. I will give this a try. Thanks again.
