I was wondering if there are any ladies out there who have gone through menopause or are currently going through perimenopause? I am curious about the effects of fluctuating hormones on medications like Baclofen, or on SCI related issues like spasms. I have had an increase in my spasms the last couple of years. I increased my dose of Baclofen from 60mg to 90mg and it made me really dizzy and nauseous, and the increase didn't really help with the spasms. I realize that this post is about two issues, but I am wondering if they are related in some way.
marlenekay,i do believe that i may be pre-menapause but i still menstruate although i think this can last for quite some years but i am not affected in anyway that i notice.
I would find it reasonable that as your body changes, especially hormonal wise, then medication can be affected. I guess the tricky thing is pinpointing wether the spasms are increasing naturally with increase spasticity over time or is the baclofen less effective due to changes in your body chemistry.
Have you tried any natural supplements that can help with the hormones as this may possibly prevent the need for the increase in baclofen, just a thought?
