A quick Bio:
3 years ago (April 2012) my husband collapsed in agony, he was told it was muscles spasms by Out of Hours GP, fed painkillers and left to get on with it...for 6 day's he was unable to get out of bed he was in so much pain...another O of H GP gave him stronger painkillers for his muscle spasms...day 7 he made it to our own Surgery, GP No 3 said *it's sciatica* - more pain killers...still no relief...another GP appointment...*sciatica* again - until I argued with him and demanded an MRI which he reluctantly agreed to...6 weeks after he collapsed he had MRI...2 weeks wait for results - our own GP this time who say's *you have had a severely herniated disc and need an urgent referral to a neurosurgeon*...Saw Neuro in August 2012 - referred for spinal injection - 1st one done December 2012 - total failure - 2nd MRI Feb 2013 - 2nd spinal injection March 2013 - made matters worse, he was in more pain than before for next 10 months...Neuro said surgery was not an option and he could do no more and referred him back to his GP.
Asked for new referral to different Neuro .
Then someone ran into the back of our car - that did not help him at all - Insurance arranged another MRI - done in Feb 2014.
Saw different Neuro in March 2014 - said surgery was not an option - 50% chance of being paralysed - suggested another spinal injection if/when he wanted it.
Husband was not keen on another after No 2 and was having a pretty reasonable time so left it through the summer - by Autumn 2014 the pain was increasing and he saw the Neuro again in Dec 2014 - injection No 3 was done in Feb 2015 - same result as No 2 - he's in more pain now than before the injection...have run out of options now according to Neuro.
Since April 2012 his right leg and foot has felt Numb - Aching - Electric Shock Sensation - Nagging Pain - Hypersensitive to Shoes, Socks & Touch - Sharp - Shooting - Spasms - Stabbing - Tenderness - Tightness - Tingling...constantly (24/7)
One major issue is that my husband is allergic to/has had extreme reactions to ALL the pain meds - ie Codeine/Naproxen/Tramadol/Amytriptiline/Gabapentin/Pregablin and all Opiates and Morphine they have prescribed and as a result cannot safely take any pain relief...the medics say they have run out of safe options so he has to cope without any pain relief.
I already knew about CES and was doing some research on it because my husband has mentioned a couple of new symptoms that rang bells.
New symptoms:
Severe Heel Pain - He cannot bear weight on it - hypersensitive to socks or shoes and touch - Aching - Electric Shock Sensation - Nagging - Prickling - Sharp - Shooting - Spasms - Stabbing - Tenderness - Tingling. (many of the nerve pain symptoms he has had in his leg & foot since 2012 but rarely affecting his heel until now)
Has urge to go to loo (urinate) - by the time he get's there he say's he is struggling to hold it in - then when he thinks his bladder is empty and he is finished it starts again - dribbling as he put's it - can happen a couple of times before his bladder empties.
Hence my CES search for info relating to these new symptoms.
Any comments would be appreciated.
