As the title says, my doctors don't believe any of my symptoms because they haven't measured any significant deficiency while I am in their offices. They have put words in my medical file that say it is all in my head. The incomplete paralysis, body temperature control issues, mobility and balance, the visual migraines, etc. They are saying those are faked and I am a mental case.
A few weeks ago I did a sleep study and I got the results last night. As soon as I relax to sleep I stop breathing. If I lay on my back my airway also closes. I am not grossly obese so there has to be a cause. First, how do you fake the results on a sleep study. They know when you are asleep because of the brainwave patterns. It is impossible to fool the sleep doctors about being asleep.
So it appears that while I'm trying to sleep my neck muscles are relaxing and the herniated discs at C4 and C5 are pushing down on my spinal cord and that is the like cause that stops my breathing and makes my blood oxygen drop to 83. According to the study I sleep for 1 minute and 35 seconds between breaths. I wake up to take a breathe then back to sleep for another 1 minute and 35 seconds. I do that all night, every night. Apparently that is bad for my health.
The sleep therapist said that my primary care doctor should have told me about the sleep study when I was at an appointment last Thursday because he had the urgent results in his email 3 days before. The sleep clinic doctor said I need to sleep on my side to minimize the Central Sleep Apnea effects and to prevent airway blockage that is according secondary to the Central Sleep Apnea. When I asked the therapist that called me if that could explain some of the other symptoms I've been having he said it is very likely. He also said this puts me in the 1-2% risk group for a heart attack or stroke while I sleep. This was just the thing I needed to hear to not want to sleep any more. Not that I have been sleeping for the past 2 years anyway.
This makes me so mad I am seeing red! For the last 3 years I have been losing health and mobility while they have been plastering my medical records with some association disorder crap while the discs in my neck, that they know have been touching my spinal cord at both C4 and C5 for at least 2 years, may be the cause of everything.
I had to find this out from a sleep clinic? The incompetence of primary doctor and the last 2 neurologists is blatant and unforgivable.
I feel relieved that I might finally have some solid proof. Once I do I'm going to sue the VA for gross negligence because I have asked several times if the herniated discs in my neck could be a problem and they told me many times "When the symptoms don't improve we'll consider it a possibility."
Edit: I have confirmed my primary care provider put "Somatization Disorder" in my file within the last year. If the Sleep Clinic doctor proves to be correct I am definitely going to have grounds to sue the VA for gross negligence and slander.
