I have read that some people have had improved bladder, bowel and sexual function after using cannabis oil. Has anyone used the oil and what were the results?
Welcome to the forum erixmyth I hadn't heard of using cannabis oil so Ive taken a look on the net and it looks interesting!
I wonder if the sexual function is improved due to the 'relaxing' properties? Anxiety and Stress: One of the most popular and well known uses of cannabis essential oil is as a relief for stress and anxiety. The natural compounds found in cannabis essential oil, including the famed THC, which is what gives cannabis the distinction of a drug in many countries, are very good for releasing pleasure hormones and relaxing the mind, reducing stress and inducing a sense of calm and relaxation.
Sleep Issues: For people who suffer from insomnia, constant anxiety during the nighttime hours, or simply struggle to get a sound, restful night of undisturbed sleep, cannabis essential oil works like a charm.
Pain Reliever: Cannabis essential oil works as a great pain reliever, and is regularly suggested for people with inflammation, chronic pain, and even emergency pain relief. There is a very good reason why people who suffer from cancer often turn to cannabis-related options, including cannabis essential oil, when the pain of chemotherapy or the disease itself becomes unbearable.
Cancer Prevention:Although there is still some controversy over this, and a great deal of research still ongoing, early reports have shown that the active ingredients in cannabis essential oil can have preventative effects on cancer, and can also cause reduction in tumor size, thereby making it easier to effectively beat cancer for those patients already suffering from that tragic disease
Heart Health: The volatile oils in cannabis essential oil can also help to improve heart health by balancing out the negative oils in your system. It can stimulate antioxidant processes as well, scraping off excess cholesterol and maximizing the health of your cardiovascular system.
I came across an article on cannabis oil so thought i'd add some info. The article is more so about a doctor who developed lung cancer and decided to give cannabis oil a try....Its fascinating!
The fifty-year old doctor from Serbia had been detected with lung cancer with metastasis to the lymph nodes 6 months ago. Stage two of three. He began to use cannabis oil. He fully supports the opportunity to legalize marijuana for medical purposes.
So when are the powers that be going to admit that a change of perspective is needed.....?
Recent findings of his lungs are stunning. “After only three months of cannabis oil usage the cancer is reduced, and the last finding of scanner is good. My radiologist is delighted. I told my oncologist that the use cannabis oil, he only shrugged and told me to use everything that I think can help me”, says P.B.
In the world there are many controversies about the use of marijuana. “There is solid evidence that marijuana helps, but I support the continuation of experimentation with cannabis in order to find the best solution for patients,” said recently Dr. Cat Arni, famous physician who deals with the examination of the tumor.

It's amazing stuff! I'd lost feeling in patches on the back of both legs & 2 hours after smearing them with CBD oil, the feeling had fully returned! (I am sensory incomplete) Downside was more spasm, never the less, I do vouch for it's authenticity. Also effective on moles..I had an angry looking raised one which has almost disappeared!

tetradownunder, if you don't mind me asking, where do you get your oil from? Cannabis became legal in my state last month, but it's illegal to buy or sell it until 2018, when they have all their ducks in a row. I'd like to find some oil before then, and thought I'd see if there's a reputable online source.

Straight from the plant jaylock.. I'm from New Zealand - not legal yet, but nearly.
ETS..You've missed a months growth already!.. If you can, get a lot of plants & make your own...Youtube would have 'how to' I'd imagine.
Thanks for the response, tetradownunder, Too early for planting outdoors, here, which we plan to do this year. Electricity was too expensive when we tried indoors, but now things have changed we're hoping for an outdoor harvest. The minute quantity of oil we did make before was more experimental than anything else, and I'm not sure if it was potent enough. It's worth another shot, though.
When you're talking about cannabis oil, are you talking about Phoenix tears/Rick Simpson oil (a whole plant extract, including all the cannabinoids) or CBD oil? That's a really different thing than a CBD extract (which can come from hemp) or really an extract of an any individual cannabinoid.
There are clear, detailed instructions online for making RSO at home - it requires a pretty substantial amount of raw material to get started, and because it involves a lot of alcohol (for extraction) and then cooking that alcohol off, there's a flammability risk as well.
Cannabinoid ratios vary from strain to strain and if you're buying to make RSO, you probably want to purchase from a shop that grows their own, organically and that does gas chromatography so that you know the ratios. If you're growing for yourself, again with the chromatography - different cannabinoids have different effects, and the ratios that work for some will not work the same for others.
I used to make Green Black Walnut Hull Tincture,...lots of it. I bought a liter of Everclear alcohol and diluted it by half with filtered water. I soaked the green walnuts in it for three days, bottled the green liquid, and added a pinch of ascorbic acid to each bottle. No heating required. I did this for several years, and gave a lot of it away to friends. They really liked it...hmmm...maybe a little too much. They kept asking for more.
In general, decarboxylation (via low slow heating), markedly improves the bioavailability of cannabinoids. Some (very minimal) decarb will inevitably happen with drying and storage but when you buy a strain and the jar says XX% cannabinoid, that's a decarboxylated measurement. Same is true for seeds - strain whatever seeds will be sold as XX% various cannabinoids but that's for that specific plant under very specific and tightly controlled growing conditions. Home grown will probably be in range, but it just depends.
Absorption of all cannabinoids is fat dependent - they're lipophilic, so can't be absorbed by/extracted by water - you need alcohol or oil, and they're primarily broken down in the liver and small intestine - if you consume it orally, you kind of want to be sure there're enough cannabinoids to make it all the way to getting absorbed and broken down. There's some research out about bioavailability and synergistic compounds (i.e., combine extracts with black tea and dairy for higher absorption), but not a lot, and most of the research focuses on THC, rather than the other cannabinoids, which tend to be absorbed at lower rates than THC.
I don't know a whole lot about which extraction method has the highest yield - I have seen folks report that when using medicinal extracts that are CBD-only (often hemp-derived) pain and spasticity relief require doses that are cost-prohibitive, which makes some sense - 50 milliliters of extract does not necessarily contain 50 milligrams of cannabinoids. Quality control is pretty key to dosage management.
Also, don't forget topicals. They work.
And frankly? because cannabinoids vary widely, even within strains, without batch gas chromatography results, figuring out dosage for home growers and users is going to be trial and error, at least initially. It can be very frustrating to find something that works and then not be able to replicate it because of not knowing exactly what it was about it that worked. For more trickyness - anyone with a cytochrome uptake disorder (surprisingly common) would be well-advised to tread cautiously, because cannabinoids affect uptake of other chemicals and meds, both increasing and decreasing, depending on the uptake pathways etc.
I strongly, strongly encourage folks to do their own research - there's a pretty good amount of stuff out there from both traditional/western medicine and from the weed industry. Good dispensary staff will at least be able to tell you what organic means to them in terms of pest control, discuss absorption methods and how the terpenes are interrelated - if you're buying, hunt around and ask questions until you find somewhere you feel comfortable.
A question to all who use cannabinoids legally: How much does it affect your ability to drive or to take part in other (social) activities? A medical derivate called "Dronabinol" is legal where I live. Difficult to get a prescription, but legal. Any experience?
