Henry Windsor, M.D. questioned chiropractic. “Chiropractors claim that by ‘adjusting’ vertebrae they can relieve stomach troubles, ulcers, menstrual cramps, thyroid conditions, kidney disease, constipation, heart disease, lung and other diseases-but how?” He performed an experiment: he dissected human and animal cadavers to see if there was a relationship between any diseased internal organs discovered on autopsy and the vertebrae and nerves that went to the organs.
In a series of three studies through the University of Pennsylvania, he dissected a total of 75 human and 72 cat cadavers and found 221 structures other than the spine were diseased. He found a nearly 100% correlation between “minor curvatures” of the vertebrae and disease of the internal organs. Some of the disease categories were:
HEART DISEASE- All 20 cases with heart and pericardium conditions had the upper five thoracic vertebrae misaligned(T1-T5).
LUNG DISEASE- All 26 cases of lung disease had spinal misalignments in the upper thoracic area(Upper Back).
STOMACH DISEASE- All 9 cases of stomach conditions had spinal misalignments in the mid-thoracic area (T5-T9).
LIVER DISEASE- All 13 cases of liver disease had misalignments in the mid-thoracic area (T5-T9).
GALL BLADDER – All 5 cases with gallstone disease had spinal misalignments in the mid thoracic area (T5-T9).
PANCREAS- All 3 cases with pancreatic disease had spinal misalignments in the mid thoracic area (T5-T9).
SPLEEN- All 11 cases with spleen disease had spinal misalignments in the mid thoracic area (T5-T9).
KIDNEY- All 17 cases with kidney disease had misalignments in the lower thoracic area (T10-T12)
PROSTATE AND BLADDER DISEASE- All 8 cases with prostate and bladder disease had lumbar vertebrae misaligned(L1-L3).
UTERUS- the 2 cases with uterine conditions had the second lumbar misaligned... (snipped)
Hey there spiritscript, Im very interested to look at this information and look further into it. What injury level are you and what kind of issues are you having, if you dont mind me asking?
Ive read a little on the article and it states:

I think it will be interesting to see if spinal injury can be attributed to the 'disease' that can initiate some of these health issues. If the vertebrae of the spine isnt diseased, it may not initiate any of these issues..
I do think that anything that becomes out of balance will have a degree of effect on the rest of the body though.
It is interesting different problems our Spinal cord injury creates. After a few weeks healing from my surgeries I became really sick and had high fevers. Doctors couldn't figure out what was wrong. It ended up the Gall Bladder was filled/plugged with sediment from the surgeries/blood and shut down. The sediment wouldn't pick up on a cat scan or MRI. After removing the Gall Blatter was fine after a few days. Never had that problem again.

Hi Lara!
I'm a mess since a minor hemorrhoid surgery in 2012. I can barely walk and think it's now CRPS/RSD. The burning pain is unbearable. I have spinal stenosis, herniated disks, probable CES, diabetes, COPD, gallstones and the list goes on!

OMG!!! That is TERRIBLE!!! Wow! And I always wonder how much actually shows on cat scans and MRIs! How awful you had to go through this!
Hello Spirit, The crazy part was I would get very high fevers of 104/105 and be burning up. They thought i had major UTI's , but the antibiotics were not working. One of the surgeons suggested taking the GallBladder out and thought I might have a blockage. They said it was completely packed full with sediment. I guess when we go thru our surgeries , our body disposes of bad blood and particulars thru the blatter. they said the sediment is so small that it is hard for any type of screening to pick up. Its amazing what we all have been thru during our beginning stages of Sci. At least I am doing well and healthy. I feel good about that. Have a great weekend. Best Regards, Joe

I'm glad they were able to eventually figure it out and fix the problem and that you're better now! It is really crazy how many complications there are that comes with spinal cord injuries.

spiritscript, this is a very interesting idea. I never had digestive issues until I became paralyzed. Now, a mess with the neuro complications. Also developed heart arrhythmias and tachycardia, not related to my disease which caused SCI. Everything is connected in our bodies, and we are "fearfully and wonderfully made".
I was scheduled for "a minor hemorrhoid surgery" this Fall. When I read the recovery expectations for ABs, I decided against surgery. My doctor had no clue what it would be like to do a bowel program after such surgery. Even though I have virtually no sensation in my saddle area, I do have significant pain which I believe originates from pressure on the hemorrhoids. Hoping I do not need to pursue this in the future, as I can envision the type of problem you have had. Just to clarify, your SCI is not from this surgery, but the hemorrhoidectomy was an exacerbating experience?
