I thought we need a thread on this, many people with SCI strive for independence so anything we can find that assists someone with function issues is worth posting! Please share any ideas or anything you have tried and tested that works!
I used to build R/C and model cars prior to my accident and did a lot of hands on repair work but I really miss it since I'm unable to do that stuff now but I should start looking for tools that'd be easier for me to use!
You really should do DJ,at the end of the day you still have the skill and lets be honest so many dont have it, all you need is tools that assist with your hand function.
DJ, before I recognized that I was losing hand function (before the paralysis hit in a dramatic way), I fashioned a brace with velcro straps to help hold the tools in my hand because my grasp was unreliable. Worked well, and I still use it. It is basically made for carpal tunnel syndrome "treatment", and I just replaced the velcro with industrial strength material and made it longer so the tools would fit.
