On Sunday there was a 'free adaptive surf day' and it looked just amazing. These guys from ' Coastal Carolina Adaptive Sports & Recreation helped make this possible! Facebook group
The Wheel to Surf organization was created to help those with disabilities have the opportunity to surf for the first time ever, or ride waves once again in a safe environment.
This would be sooooo awesome!!!! Thank you for the link. Even though I don't like FB, I joined their group! Maybe I will throw caution to the wind, not worry about incontinence, take the risk of flying (which I am not supposed to do), and get there for a day of surfing!!!! I have a friend who has a condo in NC, and they are hosting another surf event June 14. Just looked in my calendar, hrrrrmph, I have chemo on June 15 so I could not make that one. But there is another event September 12, but my firend's condo will be closed for the season (he is a teacher). Maybe I could drive with a friend...but it is over 8 hours, and that is a lot of potty and brain breaks!!! I feel so defeated that I cannot imagine being able to travel this much.
Lαrα, giant cork ought to do it! When it gets wet, it'll stay in place...well, unless I "wipe out" (pun intended).
Lol, I think that could be organised, we could maybe market and sell these and be millionaires within 6 months!
Yeah!!!!!! If pet rocks can be sold, and "chia pets", then we should be good to go! The waterproof version could be called the Wave-Wooof (sound of a fart under water), and the land-only version maybe Good-to-Go. Hahahahahahaha... Leaky SCIs will revere me forever!
My first millionaire project was a chain guard for a multisprocket (derailleur) bicycle--never made it to my satisfaction, so still poor. My one great project, which I sold as idea instead of negotiating part of profit from product, was a gearless, ratcheting knee joint for prosthetic. I should have been a millionaire, but I was 9yo and not business savvy, and ill-advised...

It was for a science fair project (and I didn't win first prize!). Under the guidance of my grandfather, I was always making things to solve needs that I observed, or applying existing technology in new ways. He worked with Thomas Edison, and was one of the most creative minds I have ever known, self-educated beyond third grade! A childhood friend lost his leg above the knee, and it was awful how his prosthetic leg had to be locked either straight or bent at 85oout. When I was using my grandfather's socket wrench, a new gearless ratcheting design by Snap-on, I got the idea to apply this to the knee joint. I made a crude prototype for the science fair, and later my grandfather helped me build a better one to submit for patent and also to company that builds most prosthetics in the USA.

Well that's quite impressive wavewolf, not surprising though considering how knowledgeable you are.
Your grandpa worked with Edison huh? Did you ever get to see him yourself?

Edison died long before I was born, but I heard a lot of stories about working with him. Being mentored by my grandfather was a wonderful thing, gave me a love for learning, ability to independently problem-solve as well as work with others, and good work ethic. He was my hero!
Thats pretty impressive wavewolf! We have a show here in the UK called Dragon's Den, basically it's for budding entrepreneurs! I don't know how many times I have planned to go on that show with one of my 'ideas' lol but then I do have a very vivid imagination!

Yeah, I can see that! Your grandfather sure taught you well

My parents watch that a lot and I sometimes watch with them. It's a good show, kinda funny too seeing some of the things people come up with.
Lαrα, DJ, Dragon's Den is on YouTube. After watching an episode, I liked hearing the ideas, but there is so much time spent on hype! That is why I don't watch TV...between commercials and hype and lewdness, not a lot left to enjoy.
DJ, it amuses me when they come on the show and they are excited to share their amazing idea and then they are pulled apart..and told no. Some of them look in shock and dis-belief after spending the life savings, re- mortgaging their home and if they are lucky, they may get some of it back but no one certainly wants to invest lol I do have a mean sense of humour though!
wavewolf, I avoid having the TV on at all costs, I absolutely hate violence that is shown on TV, i cant watch it. I can't watch some documentaries if they show an animal being hunted by another. I know its the food chain and natural but there is nothing good in seeing that.
I watched a documentary on killer whales once and there was a mom whale with her baby calf ( im sure it wasnt a killer whale), a group of killer wales circled the mom and baby and separated the calf. They separated the calf so they can tire it and drown it by pushing it under the water constantly. The mom couldnt do anything but try and stay by the calf's side.
It was ruthless and I felt it to the pit of my stomach and turned it off Television is stressful!
