Ok, I will start this off by saying that I acknowledge my current diet is absolutely horrible! I don't have a regular bowel routine. With IBS my situation is even worse. I have gone a week without a bowel movement before which means I was literally full of $hit. I am ready to make some changes and I would rather take advice from people that actually deal with daily.
I love junk foods and sweets. I love bread more than anyone in the world. Everything I love to eat is probably working against me in the digestive/bowel area.
I just need some ideas as to what you eat on a regular basis to keep a semi normal bowel routine. I have dealt with the "accidents" for 19 years and it is all because I was even told about a regular bowel routine by the rehab hospital or any doctor. I am just now getting back into seeing doctors on a regular basis to try and make life a little more "normal".
jeff1967,I so wish that everyone on this forum would do the healthy eating that I do and take the supplements that I do also. My bowel routine is so much better.
For your bowels, cut your gluten out, it just bulks up in the bowels and is hard to digest and poop out. I did a detox for two weeks, no bread, no glueten, no potatoes, no sugar.
Every day i take 6 capsules of medically backed health supplements that is just amazing. Juice Plus They are also a great support!
It will help to regulate your bowels to go back to traditional healthy eating with no rubbish.
Maybe the detox will be the first thing I shoot for and then work from there.
Don't forget to cut out tea and coffee...beer etc!
Luckily I am not a tea or coffee drinker and my beer consumption has dwindled down to next to nothing. I do love my Cokes though! I have them down to 2-3 8 ounce cokes per day which is still to much. Going without bread is going to be my biggest hurdle. I love bread like no other human LOL.

Your kidding right? Give up coffee I thought coffee was good for you. Come on, next thing your gonna tell me is I going to have to give up bacon triple cheeseburgers. Have you ever tasted tofu. ???

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

jeff1967, going on a diet always sucks but when we're in this situation we have no choice unfortunately. A week without a bowel movement is extremely dangerous! I think it's definitely time to make some changes to your eating habits There are some good suggestions above but here are more good ways to have a healthy diet -

kilg0retr0ut, i had a very traumatic experience 2 weeks ago...I have done my detox and cleanse and healthy eating and then was having a cheat day. On my cheat day I have macdonalds breakfast with a burger thing with cheese.
Someone showed me a pic of a tapeworm that someone had found in their hamburger...I was horrified and my eyes were on stalks! I have a huge huge worm phobia so a tapeworm is the biggest scariest worm and almost snake like!
No more macdonalds for me but i do love coffee but no its not good for you!
