Suddenly it has turned super hot here in the UK, which is rare for us! Only thing is that my feet are driving me crazy with the burning nerve pain, the temperature is definitely a factor in this.
So are you noticing that your nerve pain worsens when the weather is warmer?
I know that literally there will be nothing to ease it, over the past 4 years I have tried everything and nothing really makes any difference. I need to attach ice blocks to them! lol
I love really warm weather. I don't have half the pain in the summer as I do in the cold winter. This February was brutal for me with below zero days. My electrical shock pains fire up. I enjoy and like to absorb the heat but not a lot of humidity. We have had some this summer with lots of rain in northeast , pa. It hasn't been a good summer so far. We are already into month 7 of the year. Already not looking toward winter. Hope everyone is feeling well. Have a great upcoming weekend.
joemonte, warm weather is lovely and people are so much happier when the Sun is out. We had the biggest and scariest thunderstorm last night, it was literally above my house. The thunder was instantly after the lightening! ?

I agree with everything you've said joemonte! Like the heat but not the humidity and the weather this year hasn't been that great. Hope that changes!

Lαrα I love thunderstorms especially at night but not when the lightning is nearby
The heat is making the burning in my feet almost unbearable! The hotter it is, the more my feet burn! One of my fellow-residents has been complaining about her nerve and phantom pains (leg amputee) too!

Hi Lαrα, Is it like monsoon season type heat? I don't know your weather over there lol But mine was the absolute worst when I spent a summer working in Phoenix Arizona. They brag about it being a "dry heat" without the humidity. It was the sudden changes in pressure during monsoon season that was horrible.
I will say that I lived in the southern US for the majority of my life and the humidity worsened my pain. I could tell when I was going to have a really bad day by the fluctuation of the barometric pressure and storms rolled in the following day or soon after. I hope that makes sense? I began scouring the internet several years ago when my pain lessened a great deal with a move to the high desert area of Colorado. The weather is pretty stable here so I think that makes a huge difference. I actually went back to NC for a while after I had to give up my job. I moved back last year because my quality of life was better without mother nature's bipolar weather decisions. The more stable the atmosphere the more tolerable my pain is.
There have been lots of studies using guinea pics in the US so it has been proven that the pressure changes causes increased pain. I was just googling and found this. it makes sense to me.
Since your body is made up mostly of water/fluid...this next article makes perfect sense. Why would it not affect us? Think about the CSF fluid that surrounds the spine.
Knight, then you know just what I mean, its so annoyingly uncomfortable and then I get these shock pains in my feet that literally feels like someone has chopped my toes off!
acrobatinmydreams, thats real interesting, in the UK we don't often get humid heat although this week we have. Normally it's not so hot but the pain in my feet does increase just by wearing socks.
Thankyou for sharing this information, its very useful and interesting. I appreciate the time and effort you went to looking this up!
Oh, give me the cooler weather! Actually, acrobatinmydreams, I think you hit it right on the head--weather changes are the hardest thing for me, especially quick changes in barometric pressure. Humidity is a killer. Only good thing about warm weather is that I don't automatically pee when I step outside!
Lαrα, I put on my winter kayaking socks made of 2mm neoprene, mid-calf height. Filled dishpan with water and ice cubes and submerged feet and sat until pain went down, about 20 minutes. Patted feet dry and put support hose, regular socks, and braces back on. Relief from the awful burning lasted about 3 hours. Repeated, and it worked again. Don't know why I didn't think of this years ago...

How sad is it that we have to look forward to our bodies processing water slower in the heat which means less bladder spasms....lol??? I was thinking the same thing.
cbdives, My feet swelled more in the higher humid climates. They don't swell hardly ever here in the higher altitude. Well unless I am driving a long distance. When I was younger, I had much better heat tolerance too but that may just be a "aging woman thing rather than SCI". Cold really doesn't bother me at all.

That makes sense about the bladder--didn't realize what was behind better deal in warm weather!
Yes, my feet swell horribly in summer, nerve pain is almost intolerable. This is so much less an issue when it is lower than 60F. Wondered if it was just aging thing, but I think body just cannot get rid of fluid as well when body temp is about same as air temp.
