Im sure that almost everyone with Spinal Cord Injury has at sometime, or do , suffer from stress or anxiety. Physical effects of SCI are focused on but not so much the mental and emotional strain.
Dealing with stress over long periods of time, will have a negative effect on the body at some point. Do you have any stress management that help?
I have a spinal cord injury And what you have told is absolutely true..I suffer from very much stress and anxiety in each and everything that I come across. I can’t manage it even for small things. I shout at my children always and this is really making them as well as me very upset. I even fear whether children would hate me for this reason. After opening up to my sister, she has advised me to consult with an orthopedic surgeon at AESM,Toronto. She says like physiotherapy would help me. But I haven’t ever tried this and hence Idk anything regarding the same. Has physio got any role in dealing with the stress or anxiety?? I really doubt! Pls help.
Hi Linda, could you be more specific about what you feel is behind the frustration and anger? Physiotherapy may help depending on whats bothering you. It's really hard to help without knowing more about you, and your situation. I've been there, and still find myself angry, usually first thing in the morning. I recognize it now for what it is and be careful not to let it out on my family. There is so much crap associated with an SCI, any reasonable person would find it extremely frustrating. Your not alone.

Yes, Linda, physical therapy can play a great role in reducing stress and anxiety.
I suffer from "drop everything I pick up" and it is real frustrating, at times resulting in loud curse words being let loose from my mouth. I wonder if neighbors can hear me and if they think I'm crazy. Linda I believe frustration plays a large role in many sci issues. ive found also that 99.9% of others have no idea what it is like to be in our situations, even medical doctors, in fact they are the cause of many of our situations and frustrations, so that is why we need to help one another in this forum instead of relying on others that have no idea what we go through on a daily basis, even minute to minute.
Clearly I don't know what I'm doing on this board yet... sshouston, I suffer from "I drop everything" too, it makes me insane! This is the first revelation I've had since reading these posts, I am able to relate, thank you!
Interesting. Have you noticed any negative side effects or is it all cloud 9?
I do not have any negative side affects from using it. I'm not as sharp when I'm on it so I don't smoke while I am at work I wait til the work day is done. the only negative is I inhale all munchies in my pantry.
Having lived with pain, stress, depression, etc ..... !!! I would recommend this to anyone! www.breathworks-mindfulness.org.uk Mindfullness has become a bit of a word of the moment!! In its proper context it can be life changing. Good luck.

I planted 3 seeds of northern lights last Tuesday and all 3 have sprouted and are growing quickly will post pics in my other thread in the next day or two, glad to hear there are no side effects, would like to try using in a different manner, don't care for smoking it.

I often announce "My job is dropping things" but it's also my job to knock things over because I misjudge where my arms and hands are. Somebody's got to do it.
I find meditation, painting, listening to music, and reading posts from my wise and understanding SCI friends usually reduces my stress level. When all else fails, screaming al least lifts the valve on the pressure cooker. Seriously, I find communicating with people who understand and don't judge the most helpful.
