I am almost tempted to try this! I know its not the same as riding but it looks like it could be fun!
This lady is quadriplegic and hasnt ridden for years but not only is she enjoying driving, she is competing in shows and winning! She is one busy lady!
As she wrote on her website, tailfeathercoach.com, "I have experienced first hand that life can throw curve balls and as a result, I've learned to adjust my swing."
She became a world champion in disabled archery, setting state, national and international records. She went hiking, biking, whitewater rafting, zip lining and kayaking. She entered the Ms. Wheelchair Minnesota pageant and won. Over the past year, she became involved with horses again.
Before her injury, Peterson showed hunter-jumper horses and loved it. It was something she greatly missed after her injury. As a wheelchair-bound quadriplegic, she knew she could not ride again.
A sulky is a 2-wheeled cart that is connected behind a horse with a harness. The most well-known harness race is known as the Hambletonian. Check out www.trotting.com for more history and info.
Thanks Knight, I have some surprising news, my horse that I sold 2 years ago is being brought back to me as a gift. She was the only one I could have hoped to ride so it looks like its a good time to try again!

Lαrα, what wonderful news!!!! Oh yes, this is something to look into, could open so many doors for you! An adaptive sulkie would probably be possible for you, as a part-time walker. They are light and fast, and with a horse you already have a good relationship with--can only imagine the joy you could enjoy again riding.
