Hi, My father had a traumatic fall 10 years ago that left him with a multitude of medical issues that all connect to/ stem from the spinal cord. Although he walks with a cane, his movement is incredibly limited and he is in constant extreme pain. I'm now 22 and have no medical experience, so it is very hard to watch him suffer and not know how to help. My question is in regards to how to deal with fevers that he gets. Because of the injuries, when he gets a fever his body starts seizing and it's very difficult to watch him writhing in pain. Is there anyone that can give some advice on how to ease his pain...ways for me to increase his comfort until the fever passes?
What's his injury level if you don't mind me asking? It seems like this fever could possibly be Autonomic Dysreflexia (AD). Does he normally just wait for it to pass or does he take meds to help with it?
