Hi I met with an accident last month and injured my vertebrae in in my lower back. I had surgery but there was nerve damage in my left leg. I have had to walk on a cane! I am in chronic pain all the time from it. But recently a shooting pain has come in my leg every time I try to straighten my leg. It feels like something is pulling from my back down my legs. Anyone know what is causing this problem with my leg? Is it related to arthritis in my spine? One of my friend suggested me to do massage therapy from Alliston(Physiomed). Has anyone faced a problem like mine? Should I go for physiotherapy? Please share.Thank you.
I'm not sure whether your pain is related to the spinal cord injury or the arthritis but massage therapy is definately worth trying. Make sure you talk to your doctor/neurosurgeon first and make sure that it's ok to do massage therapy on your spine. Good luck!

I have something similar, it was worse when my injury was new. It kinda felt like a muscle had about 4 inches cut out and then sewed back together, making it feel tight and clawed. I learned a stretch that loosened it some and with time the pull has diminished greatly. Nobody ever understood this when I tried to explain it so I hope you have better luck. Talking to a good P.T. that can find the right stretch for that area is key. Good luck As DJ said, check with you doctor first.

A new injury with developing symptoms needs to be monitored. Contact your doctor(s) ASAP. Hopefully it's a case of spastic back muscles. As explained to me when my ex injured his lower back, the back muscles naturally clench tight to protect our spine during an injury. Afterwards, the contracting spasms can be extremely painful. At this time a vibrating massage may do more harm than good as far as pain goes. Ice therapy is a wonderful alternative to increase blood flow without upsetting the injured nerves and muscles.
