I recently read a couple of articles on the Toy Like Me initiative and was super impressed by what you can reach if you only dare to speak up. Articles: Business Insider UK & The Guardian Don’t know if anyone here has heard of it, or knows more about it than I do – but I think it’s a pretty cool initiative and an idea worth spreading!

jubejube - thats an AWESOME idea! I have stumbled across this post just a couple days ago on FB www.facebook.com/TrustedMobility/?fref=ts - apparently there was a petition in the Uk and they got 50 000 signatures!! (sorry i do not have any idea how to post a link to that post specifically, but if you scroll down a bit, you will see the original link to the petition and everything) I wish we could bring this to North America, do you know if they sell the toys in the states or canada?
Not sure to be honest. But a friend told me that American Doll apparently also has some "accessories" for their dolls like wheelchairs, crutches, and hearing-aids - his daughter loves them! So maybe have a look at their website. And there was also a similar petition. The world is slooowly becoming a better place if you ask me

My daughter just purchased her first and has a giant list for her upcoming Birthday and x-mas, all American girl accessories. They do have a great selection right down to the hangers. Each doll has a history from many different time periods. My daughter created her own doll on their website, down to having her ears pierced.
You poor dad you!!! lol Been there and done that. It gets expensive.
No kidding, to get everything on her list I'd have to mortgage the house. I was proud of her saving up to buy her doll. She had a job at a animal shelter. It wasn't a real job but they had her fill out a application and she really took it serious. That with working for the neighbors, cleaning, and baking cookies, selling eggs, and doing a few chores, she saved what she needed. She was so proud, it was cute as can be.
