DJ Thank you for the sympathy;) it has been humiliating and early in the case I almost started doubting myself. Lol! Since then every test and referral Dr has provided confirmation. I tried to fire my attorney twice to stop this, but he says it's a strong case and has been so supportive and keeps me pushing forward. And I also found out because it is a work injury I have to have workers comp because no other insurance will cover it now. Even after its settled I worry that everything medically that comes up will require another hearing!!!!
I think you should be aware that you medical needs will most likely grow with CES, not to mention the cost of medications. WC will pay for your medical until you settle. I'd be leery of a lawyer who pushes you in that direction. IMO
What do you mean that my medical needs will most likely grow? Does CES get worse? Do you think its why they are trying so hard to fight each issue? Gee. Or do you thjnk they drag it out to see how much recovery a person will make. It's all a very bad dream.

Yeah, it blows. That being said I can only explain my own experience. If your out there Acrobat, I could use some help explaining the process. Have you reached what they call MMI, maximum medical improvement? That will help me know where to start, it was at about six month's and W/C will try to get that as soon as possible. They will send you to their doc and he will say you've reached it. My doctor didn't agree and thought my continued PT was important for my return.
CES is hard on the body, things come up that you wouldn't think of i.e. I just had a ankle reconstruction surgery, hopefully it will help me continue to walk. I use AFO's and they need replacing, I'm on my 4th set. My last set was close to $4000 dollars. I still don't now what's next but my point is it gets expensive. And does CES get worse, I can only say it has for me. Granted I'm older and I'm sure that plays a part as well being hard on my body over the years. Right now I'd try to stay focused on your recovery, work whatever you have left to the fullest. I feel lucky, I was paralyzed from the waist down when I was rushed into the E.R. I recovered enough to be able to walk, some don't. Attitude is huge, try not to let outside forces get you down, you'll be able to deal with all this. CES has brought my family closer, it's not all bad.

Thank you for your words of encouragement. I have not reached MMI. I'm having a psyche eval since I have had devastating depression. My case is complicated since there is still an acute pressure on the thecal sac at the Cauda Equina after decompression (was told they won't do anything about this) and I didn't get any compensation from WC until 13 months. I know this is the "system" but it's not right to withhold care when a person has a serious injury. CESI to CESR Argh. And ...I hope everyone had a fabulous Christmas!!!
I think you probably know more about CES than I. Good luck.
I am an ICU nurse so yes I have that, however, I am not experienced with CES. Most of my experience is in medical ICU as I was a Respiratory Therapist first and know ventilators and respiratory failure.
I have never had a patient with CES. Everything neuro is a mixed bag and the chips lay out differently with each (neuro) case. So, don't down play your personal experience. Its very valuable. It is a learn as you go kind of injury. Its one thing to understand what a textbook says about something, witness it first hand, but its another thing entirely to travel down that road yourself. Its interesting how emotions get in the way.Best regards.

That's pretty cool chrioli, I didn't know you were an ICU nurse! Makes sense that you didn't deal with any CES patients though.
I was told from the manometry test that I have dyssynergia of the bowel/ rectum / sphincter due to CES and sometimes it leads to removing the part of the colon that no longer works;(

Oh no, sorry to hear that chrioli Hopefully it doesn't have to go that far!
