I'd like to start a thread all about the BOMA7 All Terrain Mobility Chair. Somewhere people can ask questions about it, share experiences and adventures.
For all info on the site you can check out our help section. I believe "following" a thread is the same as "bookmarking" on here so follow the instructions on how to bookmark a thread and subscribing to notifications by visiting the help link - www.inspiredsciforum.com/help
Even more expensive now after Molten Rock went into administration and still a lot of issues to sort with the design.
As can be seen in the article you can use one with no hand/arm movement.
Nice article. I would like to try a bike with power so I could go further and enjoy the scenery. I have done the downhill trails on a four wheel mountain bike, but it required a lot of strength and balance.
As for your point about moving your body for balance, are you incorporating something into your design that can suspend your body then shift it front/back and left/right? Sort of a gyroscope sensor built into it so it moves your body (carriage portion holding your body) when necessary.
Inspiration comes and goes but when it arrives, oh how I cherish it.
With no trunk muscles to move it is difficult. The Boma suspension is not the greatest design, it suspends the seat not the wheels/chassis! even changing the rear shocks proved to be a nightmare as nothing had been thought about, moving parts did not line up so offset mounts had to be made. To have a floating seat arrangement would need a clever designer which isn't me but you would be better off starting from scratch because of the inherent design flaws in the Boma
