The Erie community came together in support of Cathedral Prep student Ian Malesiewski at a McDowell vs. Prep game on Sept. 9, 2016. Schools that are normally fierce rivals put aside their school colors as the student cheering sections all wore green in support of Ian and his spinal cord injury. McDowell's Game Day Crew proposed wearing the unifying color which brought the schools together. Former McDowell football player James Conner sent a special statement (read by his brother) before the game as he too just fought for his life against cancer. Ian's fighting spirit and message has inspired the community is many ways as seen through this video.
