The GOP is going to change health care radically in the US. I'm particularly concerned about the decision to allow insurers the right to disallow coverage to those with a pre-existing condition. If this does in fact happen where does that leave us? I know Trump and other Republican leaders have claimed they want to keep that segment of the ACA but he (Trump) is not the most reliable person to take the white house.

Write and call all your congress people explaining your concerns. Often the most effective lobbying tool is to build a relationship with one of the people who answers the phones.
I expect it will be difficult to be heard above the slugfest to come once the new administration is installed. Squeaking loudly is all we can do,and yes, death threatens.
Prior to Obama taking office, I had to do direct pay for all of my pre-existing medical care and believe me it was a hefty bill. Then insurance companies were forced to cover pre-existing visits and so my direct pay bill went way down. However, what went way up was my monthly cost for that insurance and then what started happening was more and more doctors refusing to take that insurance at all.
So where are we now. Many insurance companies pulling out of states and doctors refusing to accept some insurance policies at all.
I know the ball is gonna drop and for us it is gonna drop really hard. We need the insurance but who knows if we will even be able to pay for it.
Califanna I agree that the ACA was not a cure to a broken system. I have seen my own policy rates climb and companies in Montana have puled out of the Marketplace. I like Trump's idea of cross border sales to promote competition but I believe that could be done without abandoning the pre-existing clause. I've always been a firm believer in not complaining about an issue unless you have taken the time to consider it thoroughly and come up with a solution of sorts. I'm not convinced the GOP has done this with the urge to repeal completely without a replacement in place. Granted I don't have a solution in mind either, but I am unwilling to throw the proverbial baby out with the bathwater.
I also agree with you too Tetra, the squeaky wheel thing, except Montana's sole representative was on the stage at the RNC introducing Trump. Guessing his mind is made up . I will do the deed though and get my opinion out. Last ditch effort is to set up a Go Fund Me Account and ask our public officials (who have their insurance coverage) to fund my health insurance.
